BEST AFTERMARKET INTAKE AVAILABLE???
So I recently got a K&N high flow filter to replace the stock filter. I'm still running the stock box.
I recently ordered headers & exhaust so my next mod is probably going to go towards an aftermarket intake. I've seen so many videos and I see so many different companies but I have yet to see actual dyno runs actually showing any gains from them. What intake should I be looking at? |

Can you guys give me your reasons as to why you believe I should go with your respective brand suggestions?

I went with CAI on my car just because it looked the best for car shows.

RotoFab 6 HP hole cut in stock box 2 HP Green or KN drop in 0 to 2 HP The debate is over minimal gains IMO. I've had: Mishimoto, CAI CAI, mod box plus green filter. Dunno bout the same. Nothing compared to MSD intake, or E85 or long tubes and off road pipe..... you know real gains.

My AFE is on the way. Only way to know is to test it, which I intend to do.

yep it is how many angles can dance on the head of a pin conversation. Real mods: headers and off road pipe, MSD intake, E85 and tune for bolt ons or software. The other mods: ported TB, cat delete (front, back or both), CAI (or drop in with of mod box) and cat back together don't equal any ONE of the above. Worth while? dunno it is your money.

I wouldn't spend money on an intake until a viable over-the-radiator option comes out. Eliminate the bend at the elbow and shorten the intake tract, and then you will see some gains. Until then, you are just adding bling under the hood.

No matter how you slice it the gains are minimal and it is possible to buy a CAI that may lose a little power. Not like on the 5th gen Camaros where you could gain 15 RWHP with a CAI and a scoop and even a little more with a tune. On my 1LE I gained .5 seconds (13.2 to 12.7 both in so so air) by adding NT555Rs, a CAI CAI, and a scoop, no tune. Nothing like that is going to happen with the CA6 SS, but they are faster to start with.
With my CA6 M6 SS I also compared 1/4 MPHs in similar DA runs (not back to back) without and with the Rotofab and could detect no difference in MPH. Still they sound cool, you can get rid of that awful sound tube and it looks cool in the staging lanes or maybe at a car show. I like mine and if I ever do more like H/C I am sure the CAI will help at least some.

I've said it before and I still stand by it. If your only mod plans are a cold air intake, save your money. I plan to buy a cold air intake but only to go along with my ported TB, ported Manifold, and E85.
