Greetings friends! I heard through a birdy that a model of Camaro (ZL1 or Z28?) is possibly getting a motor update to compete with the GT500 by the end of the year. I would guess the LT5 Chevrolet has laying around. I have looked and searched for anything regarding this, and have come up with little.

Have any of you heard of anything regarding this?

The new ZL1 will of course have more HP. They won’t add anymore to current platform.

has it really? The 350 has been out for a few years now, I didn't think there was a mad rush to get the 500 out

I'm sure.. but pretty sure they aren't investing their millions on 1/4 mile performance at this point

The SS 1LE didn't need any more hp to combat the GT350. I think the current ZL1 will do just fine against it the GT500. I'm banking on it being well over 4000 lbs.

And I don't see a lot of serious call for GM to match or exceed those hp numbers. Maybe when you no longer have to steer the MOPAR with a rudder, that might change.

However till then I think fielding a complete car is a much better business plan then fielding a one trick pony. The ZL1 is able to run the .25 and not get embarrassed. It is faster than all but 14 other cars around the 'Ring and makes numbers 10-14 damn nervous for a fraction of the price. Personally I will take that over 707/840 any day. If you want to play with the Demon, get a COPO.
