lt1 vs 1ss trim

Hi, new to the forum and am looking at ordering a new 2023 Camaro. Wondering if the 1ss trim will make sense and worth the additional cost in the long run as from understanding it comes with a few coolers that the lt1 trim doesn't have as well as larger, stickier tires.

I plan to keep the car for a fairly long time with the intention of adding a supercharger and complimenting bolt ons in 3-5 years once the warranty expires. My question is, do I order the LT1 trim and save the $3500 until I do my mods, or order the 1SS? I don't see a ton of value in the other additions of the 1SS but is the engine oil, coolant, transmission and rear diff coolers worth the cost in the long run? The pro to the LT1 trim tech is the package that adds the bose sound and adds the same infotainment system as the 1SS....

decisions, decions. any input to make the decision easier is much appreciated!

I would say you'd want to go with the 1SS since your future plans include a blower and other bolt-ons, so the extra coolers and the wider tires etc. benefits outweigh the LT1 option.

The $1k tech package for the LT1 adds Bose and an 8" screen. The 1SS does not have Bose but has the 8" screen.

Other differences include the gauge cluster. The LT1 has the basic small LCD while the 1SS has an entire gauge cluster LCD.

Performance is more than just diff cooler and trans cooler. You also get a larger engine cooling system and functional front brake cooling ducts. You get rear Brembo to match the front. The cosmetics are different (which may be a pro or a con). You get Launch mode and Track mode. And the larger wheel/tire package helps with traction.

You get a lot for the money for 1SS from LT1.

Good choice, the 1SS seems the better car for you.

Id say Anything over a 4 grand difference isnt worth it.
Alot of the the stuff you can upgrade yourself later down the line including the front bumper. I got my LT1 with the RS package and Dual Exhaust for 39,500 the cheapest 1SS Near me was 44,300 with a 2SS for 47,600.

Just placed my order for a 2023 1SS black on black w/ black wheels! Hopefully it won't arrive earlier than expected (they said 4-5 months) as I won't be driving it in the winter here in MN.

For me, the price difference was only $2k between a LT1 RS and a 1SS (all other options the same). You can add a lot of cost in options pretty quick, dealer availability isn't a fair comparison.

To upgrade to the 1SS vs LT1 gear would be at least $10k later if you DIY.

I spent a lot of time in the configurator and the side-by-side graphics helped me.

The only way I'd ever buy an LT1, is if I was going to strip the car and make it a dedicated race car. It's the closest many of us will ever be to a body-in-white. If that wasn't the goal, then I'd just get any other trim of the SS

LT1 has the functional brake cooling ducts as well. Pretty sure the engine coolant system is also the same as an SS.
