Word on the streets is the GT350R still won the comparison. Can someone confirm?
Also its strange that the GT350R and SS 1LE were equal here, but over 1.5 seconds apart at Laguna Seca.

Well heck, now I want to know what the ZL1 1LE will time at. However, knowing that my 1LE is just as potent as the GT350R makes me giddy inside. mjk3888, time to change your signature don't ya think? GT350R seeking "M1SS1LE".

What I find hilarious is that they compare these two cars and show the "as tested" price as pretty close. Yet go on Autotrader and see the market for the GT350R... nothing really being sold for under $80K-85K. Most are $90K+. The GT350R lost to the ZL1, which really is more of a GT car, AND the Mustang has Sport Cup 2 tires. I'll take my $42K Camaro (with video recording system ) and use the other $40K on hookers and blow.

It is crazy how people are willing to pay over $10,000 over sticker for GT350's and R's, or any other car for that matter. My good friend was able to get a GT350 for MSRP late last summer. He just traded it for a F150 (5 small kids...), so I never got a chance to drive it.

That means GM has 2 Camaro models that are equal or faster than Ford's GT350R ADM'ed to $100k for nothing. A $45k Camaro is still just as fast. GO GM!!!!

I would kill for a GT350 vs SS 1LE head 2 head, but I think its safe to say it would turn out much like this one did. 1LE will win almost all track tests, but GT350 will get the Nod for "cool factor".
I think that's fair. If they were both the same money I would take the GT350, but they aren't and I'm plenty happy with my lil' Mullet Machine and that $15,000 extra in my pocket!

PS after i sold my c7 i finally test drove the shelby and found it not cohesive felt cheaper than these reviews look, it felt like different parts on a mustang vs all together . i actually don't like the high end twannnggggg exhaust....that it made i loved my c7 so much more. i was actually bored or the lack of low end torque made it a bit flat to me the brakes were great so don't feel bad.. I had one lined up and said no way 1le is so much better
my wife brought up a good point she said where is the z06 in this test? i said i think the last one overheated that they had on willow! the fact that the zl1 is so close i just don't believe because of the RING time id have to see it again with a diff driver regarding the R if you removed our seats and put carbon wheels on ours ??? imagine that! so very proud of the 1le i just want to beat all z51 though so might need a tune! |

You have to take the track times with a grain of salt to be honest. Track conditions can change on a weekly basis and with the heat during the filming of this, I'm sure the track was pretty poor (hence the huge difference between the ZL1's previous time vs. this videos time).

The GT350R doesn't disappoint it's just that the SS 1LE is a special car.
