Rock chips prevention
Just wanted to share this with everyone on this forum. I bought my G5 2012 back in Sept 2014. After only a week of driving I had several small rock chips on each side of the car, mainly on the rear quarter panels.
If any of you have noticed this happening to your new car, here's how to stop it. Rock guards. This is the type I used. Bought on Ebay for $39.99, haven't had a single chip since. There are other manufacturers as well, GM makes them painted to match, but cost much more. Also have several others that sell these as well, all costing more. The 2 sided tape that comes with these on E-bay isn't very good. I'd get some 3M 2-sided tape. Now not everyone has this problem, but if you live in an area that has road construction, drive on any gravel roads, or drive on older pavement, your risk of getting chips on the doors and rear quarters is greater. While this is an extreme case, if not addressed, your rear quarters could end up looking like this in time. You can also use a Paint Protection Film over the area if you don't like the way the guards look, however this is much more expensive then the guards.

FWIW, RPI sells a set that use the cars hardware to mount. No tape.
They keep the sides of the car much cleaner too..

The ones I used also use the factory torx screws to install. The 2 sided tape is for a seal so nothing gets stuck in between the guards and the painted area it they touch.
Without it, you'll get dirt and gunk in there. 5 minutes per wheel, very easy. Mine have been on for almost 2 years, and no new chips in rear quarters.
