Camaro v. Corvette
Any of you guys seriously consider a C7 Corvette when you bought your Camaro? Just curious about your findings as to the differences. Seems like Camaro is creeping up pretty close in performance, handling, etc. at a much lower cost....
Thanks. |

More than a few guys here (including me) have moved from C7's to Camaro's for various reasons. Others here have bought C7's instead of Camaros. Really depends on what you want, your driving needs, budget etc.

I did. Considered finding a used C7 and did some searching. But at the end of the day, the Camaro just grabbed me more. The styling. The value. The Apple Car Play.
I love the C7. But the appearance of it just doesn't "fit me" like the Camaro does. |

I tried to like the C7, but could never get comfortable in them. And here I am....

I wanted (and still want a C7). For me it came down to cost. If price wasn't a factor I actually do prefer the C7 styling. If I got a vette, I know I wouldn't be happy unless it was a Z06. I'm going to enjoy my 2SS and see where the Z06 depreciates to in a few years. Time will tell. For now I love this car!

Double ditto. Also, dont have a garage, so i'd be taking a big risk parking a c7 next to all the shitty beaters around my neighborhood's carport.

I had a C7, the 3rd corvette I've owned since the late '70's. My last one was a '96 LT4 which I traded because honestly it was starting to fall apart after only 2 years. The C7 design pulled me in along with the improvements in construction, interior and performance. Over that same time I owned and raced about a dozen Porsche's. I was on the fence between the new 981 and a C7, I chose the C7. 18 months later I traded the C7 on a Boxster GTS, I just couldn't fall in love with the Vette. No one reason, just a combination of factors.
In the mean time my wife bought a 2015 SS and really liked the car. When the 2016 Camaro came out we both knew the 2015 had to go. To us, neither the C7 or the SS can replace the Porsche but between the two we like the SS over the C7. Its hard to quantify what we like better about the SS but to us it just feels tighter, better put together and a much more comfortable daily driver with 95% of the raw performance of the C7. The C7 is a true sports car, the SS is a kick ass sport coupe. The corvette has more potential and a larger performance envelope but the SS is so close that unless you are tracking them it becomes a real tough choice. For us Porsche has become part of our DNA, we will never again be without one, but we also appreciate other cars and right now the SS built on the Alpha platform with the sweet LT1 from the Corvette is the perfect garage partner for the GTS. Someone at my wife's store asked her why we had both the Porsche and the Camaro and her reply was, "they are different cars, we take the SS when we want raw power and attitude and the GTS when we want precision and refinement". However, the new SS has seriously closed the gap. I find myself driving the new SS a lot more than I thought I would. |

Same here I am trading my 2014 C7 Z51 for a 2016 2LT 6Cyl. Camaro. #1 reason is the stiff ride of the C7 #2 reason is getting in and out. #3 I always like to buy the first yr. of a new model. #4 I don't keep a car very long.

If you don't mind me asking, could you please explain #3 a bit more? I'm not trying to dog on you or anything, I'm just honestly curious about your reasoning for that. I know most people either prefer to avoid first year models, or they are indifferent about getting them. I've never known anyone that actually prefers getting a first year model before.

I wanted a C7 but my 6th gen SS is a little more practical, I can use my SS as a second car, and not just a weekend 1 passenger car, like a C7 would have been for me. My kids love the backseat of my SS. If I had a real large garage I would love to have a C7 in addition, not in the cards right now. Love my SS!
