What's your favorite LT1 or SS Chevy Configurator Build?
Hello Everyone!
Joining Camaro6 after lurking for several years. I'm interested in a V8 6th Gen as a weekend crusier. My exposure to 6th Gen's is limited to a friend's 2017 2SS coupe (8 speed, mag ride & npp) plus a four day rental of a 2SS Convertible. Buying a car has changed drastically with nearly zero inventory, using the online build configurator and having to special order in many cases. As a newbie to this market, what tips and advice can you share for building a new Camaro? For those with graphics like snake bite stripes or rally stripes are you happy with the quality and durability? What pitfalls should I look out for using the 2022 online configurator to plan a 2023 build? Are the following options, in your experience worth the price? If possible please detail why or why not. MagRide NPP exhaust Special Packages or Graphics/Stripes Factory Cold Air Kit Shock Tower Brace (1LE cars don't have it do they?) Thank you for your time and comments. |

What's your favorite LT1 or SS Chevy Configurator Build?
Welcome to the forum.
I have a ‘22 2SS with MagRide and NPP and a few other items (see signature). I love the options I have and would get them again. It rides and handles great. It looks and sounds awesome. I don’t think you can get the CAI from the factory anymore. I installed the one from CAI as they made the ones for Chevy. No tune needed. I had the dealer installed hood vinyl with hash mark removed and hood and side spears installed. See this page https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...ostcount=12221 Shock tower brace not needed on the coupes. Best advice is to build it the way you want it. Order from a reliable dealer and then search the Chevy inventory daily. You might find your car at a dealership in another state. Many, including myself, purchased our Camaros that way. Probably the most important option if you're into braking performance is ticking the copper-free brake pad options on SS trims. It's a factory big brake kit for $1k. It's a $500 option if you're buying an 1LE.

The replies are much appreciated, thank you.
Excellent information! Learning the "copper free" option is a Brembo big brake package is fantastic! Good incentive for $1,000 to protect fish etc and stop faster. Noticed that painted calipers are out with this option. With the factory CAI kit not available and removed, adding the better brakes won't increase the overall MSRP of a build. Fair point that a convertible would be more likely to benefit from the STB than a coupe. While the car would be a fair weather driver, we do have many poorly maintained roads with nasty potholes in Indiana. Damaging cheapo wheels with low profile tires is pretty. common. Are the base wheels good quality? I noticed several wheel options that mentioned forged and several that didn't. Monday, plan to check out an LT1 coupe w/RS package, because rumor is the RS package looks nice in person but isn't exactly photogenic. If it checks out an LT1 RS convertible might be considered too. |

2023 is also more expensive than 2022. $1600 total I think. It's $1800 more expensive for '23 SS, but I think freight went down $200.

NPP exhaust - yes Special Package or Graphics/Stripes - whatever floats your boat. 1LE was enough for me. Cold Air Kit - no Shock Tower Brace - no and no. |

An LT-1 with the 6-speeed manual, NPP exhaust, and the technology package is a perfect cruiser IMO. The only extra things that came on mine were the black wheels/spoiler/mirrors. I don't like the vinyl graphics, I want to have actual painted rally stripes when I save up the coin.

I had an issue with the center stripe around the air extractor. Warranty took care of it.
The dealer felt that the extractor grille was damaging the stripe. They cut about a 1/4" off around the vent to keep it from happening again. It looks sano and matches the rest of the stripped areas of the car. Other than that, no issues. I also got the npp. Not for the factory exhaust, but for an aftermarket where I can switch from muffled to straight pipes and not have to bother rewiring the car.
