What Mods help with Traction, besides tires?

Im only at basically stock power levels, but it would be nice to have a bit more traction back there for taking off at lower speeds without getting violently sideways

Do I just need better tires (I'm still on the stock non-1le wheels/tires)? Or, are there other suspension type mods that people are doing to effectively put down all this power?

This. It's a must have mod. Makes the rear feel much more planted.

- Adjustable Upper Control Arms w/ Camber Set To Zero
- Lower Control Arms
- GM ELSD "Drag Calibration" Gives Clutches More Oil Pressure To Equalize Tire Slip. Flash can be done at the dealership and only activates when stabilitrak and traction control are turned off.

I've called a bunch of dealerships, and no one had a clue as to how to get this done.

Good street tires would very helpful. The stock tires are track tires. They only grip well when they are good and warm. Try Michelin PS4s tires. They are the top rated street tires on this forum for the ZL-1.

And I also endorse the BMR lockout kit.

Explain to them that there is a service bulletin on it and give them the document ID number of 84612071. They have to call in and order the flash.

This is the best bang for the buck, in my opinion. A set of PS4s or, hell, pretty much anything other that a road course tire (like the SC3's) will make a huge improvement. Even the Nitto 555G2 that came on the car when I bought it are better than the SC3 at normal street-driving temps.

I have used PS4S tires for long and swear by them for the street (just check my post history), but OP wants something that will help him dead hook from low speeds, so I'm only 70-80% sure about the PS4S for that purpose, even though it's the best street tire there is. Depends on how low those speeds are and many other factors, too. So it's a great swap for many reasons, but dead hooking on a launch or from 5-10 mph probably isn't among them, the Nitto NT555RII would probably be better for that IMO.

(plus his original question was what he could do "besides tires" )

True, but then he also said, "Do I just need better tires?"
