Well that sucks. You've been bitten twice recently by the 'modding stuff and racing it is risky' thing. Hopefully the next build will have better luck.

Yes it does SS, I also hope that and working hard to make sure everything works out much better. Thought I had a solid base but either the oil pump gave up first or the crank cracked first, either way the bearings were thirsty but didn't get the drink they needed.

Actually I was wrong about the Lt1 being a cast crank as its a forged crank according to the specs I read. So even shit happens to the forged stuff also.

I believe All GM cranks have been forged for a while now. The rods are also forged along with the pistons. If you re-gapped the rings on stock pistons they would handle some jam. My guess is (based on paying attention to your posts), your tuner is pretty aggressive on timing. I wonder if you had any detonation? That will beat the shit out of the crank bearings quick on a build like this. Other possibility is crank movement...I know guys are running studded mains on big HP builds.

You know I read this whole thing and all I took from it was f@ck that motor man. Honestly I could give 2 shits about it, the block, crank, or bearings. Honestly what I took away was your health my friend. I personally hope you are better That car will be fine and is completely fixable. Changing the motor in that ole chest of yours is a different story. Sit back and relax. Let time do its thing. Hell if you were in Norcal I would come over and yank that engine out for you. I am great at taking sh!t apart I just cant install catch cans. HAHAHA Happy Holidays Greg I wish you the best my friend.

As for the car stock stuff sucks I vote 416. HAHA I pop the motor in either of these cars and I assure you I'm maxxing out the Pro Charger Ti in the Corvette or this TVS2300 in the Camaro.

I am running main studs and on the logs we never showed any knock or detonation on the dyno or any logs at the drag strip. Yes we did run plenty of timing but many are with good fuel and meth like I run. We gapped the rings according to Manley's specs for boosted engines. I have read of crank movement and issues with the thrust bearings. I've been told the LME has a full thrust bearing that works much better then the stock bearing. I'm going to check that out before we build the new motor. I did find a forge Lt1 crank from a buddy of mine who built a 416 and its free so that's a good thing. He did stick a bearing on the dyno with 400 miles on it but it was just one rod bearing so I'll take that shaft to the machine shop for the to check out to make sure its ok. Then I'm going to go ahead and buy a new block to start fresh as long as the rods are ok after my engine builder looks at them, I may send them to Manley so they can check them also.

According to Gm's specs the rods are powdered metal on the Lt1/4 and the pistons are Hypereutectic cast aluminum alloy on the Lt1 and Forged Alloy on the pistons. The cranks are the same except for the Fillets on the Lt4 main journals.

My mistake...the Rods are forged powder metal and the pistons are Hyper cast alloy, crank is forged steel.

I would be leary depending on what kind of crank that is...not all Forged is created equal and that was kind of my point that I should of been more clear on in my previous post when mentioning the stock parts. Most aftermarket are not as strong as stock unless you get up into the Callies Magnum range.
