Transmission maintence

Had a 2003 chevy monte carlo, never flushed the auto transmission, car ran great..traded it in on new 2017 camaro..no problems with it, don't have the A8 trans shutter, but do you still need to flush the transmission every so often? Or do you just don't do it ever...had a 1990 chevy cavalier with the auto transmission and never had the trans mission flushed either, this camaro has the 4 cyclinder turbo...so, the question is: To flush or not to flush?

difference between changing fluid/filter and a flush. I have never had a transmission flushed but have changed fluid and filter. I had someone once tell me flushing the transmission can cause all the small partials to dislodge and make a mess. All my Automatics have had regular fluid and filter changes at 100m. I changed the fluid in my M6 at 20k and it shifts much better.

100 miles ? I wouldn’t do that.

I am all for a fluid change. But modern automatics dont need one until 60K maybe 100K Miles. This new shudder situation notwithstanding of course.

I'd recommend change the fluid every 30K miles- especially if you want the tranny to last a very long time. Especially in a hot climate where the tranny fluid gets and stays hot most of the time.

I would not recommend flushing for the same reasons already mentioned- loosening the particles, etc.

Sorry mistype 100k. change in M6 at 20k cause is was really stiff in cold weather.

the old school BMW mechanics used to recommend 60K mile fluid / filter changes on autos. Those were made by ZF in Germany - I think GM makes these Camaro transmissions. Personally I think 100K is about right, although I have a 2018 Colorado and if I ever make it up to 50K or so I may change at that point. I'm only putting 6K / year on that truck so far but usage could change over time.

I think anywhere 50K-100K is good. 30K is probably overkill, but it won't hurt anything.
