ZL1 1LE BRAKE PAD OPTIONS?

I've browsed tons of threads on Camaro6 and they referenced SS 1LE, ZL1s, etc. I'm not certain at the difference between the brake pads used on the different submodels. So, I figured I'd start a thread to gather all appropriate information for the ZL1 1LE. Does anyone either have suggestions or concrete evidence of great brake pads for the ZL1 1LE for TRACK USE?

Very much appreciated.

I run the Ferodo DS1.11 on track and love them. Much better than the stock pads

Stock pads work wonders depending on the track, use them first, you may be surprised. I have Hawk DTC 70/60's for tracks that are hard on brakes. Hawk doesn't make the pad yet for the ZL1 caliper, but you can use a ZR1 pad. I get my stuff from KNS brakes.

This thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528672
and this thread helps too: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=32

The FMSI numbers are 1835 front and 1053 rear. Hawk equivalents are 631.622 front and 194.665 rear.

That said, the stock Ferodo HP1000's are overall very good on-track. The pedal is a bit long but the stopping power is very good and they're fade-free.

Do they last relatively long? How long do they last in comparison to the stock pads? The stock pads seem to last a good bit.

I would say they last close to double, depending on track and temp.

I get about 4 days out of a set of stock pads. I'm pretty happy with the street/track usability. obviously this is track dependent I know some gentlemen that can destroy a set of stock pads in one day at a track like COTA.

I use the Hawk DTC 70/60 combo from KNS and they work very well. Street use is also ok, better than my Performance Friction on my 911. Motul 600 is cheap and reliable upgrade.

What's the GM Part number for the OEM ZL1 1LE brake pads? I googled and checked the manual but to no avail.

Jesus. Those are spendy pads! I have DS111s on my race car and I think the set was half that price.

Anyone else have any more recent experience with aftermarket ZL1 race pads?

As others have said, I'm getting Hawk dtc70 for front and DTC 60 for rear and they are doing great at the track. You want to order them from KNS since they are the only ones that are correcting the pads for our caliper. And the pads are same between both versions of the ZL1
