I continue to be amazed at how capable this car is stock. Had a lot of fun today with a number of Camaro buddies including jpdaugherty and 5senna5. Went to the track today hoping to match Andy Pilgrim's NCM time, didn't expect the result. Got lucky on weather (mid-low 40's) and the track felt terrific. Again, this is on OEM 285/305 G3 220tw tires. BTW, jpdaugherty won the "loose is pretty fast" award today with his old heat-cycled out RS4's.
Eric - that’s a master class on how to get around NCM - fun to watch, thanks for posting!! All the best to your and your family during this crazy time - hope to see you at Mid Ohio later this year.

Thanks Todd, appreciate the kind words. Indeed on Mid Ohio, what are you going to be tracking this year?

Track=Gingerman
Elapsed Time=1:41.69
Camaro Model =2017 SS 1LE
Date=May 3,2020
Tires=GY SC3
Mods=DS2500 pads

Finally was able to break 1:42’s!

It was, also, great to get out and get my mind away from the world of today for a day.

I’ll update with video soon.

After looking at data, I think my rear tires need to be replaced for sure. They are from 2017 and have something like 28+ 20 min sessions on them. They look like they have 1 more event in them, but I don’t think the compound does. Fronts were replaced last year and never had issue of confidence with them this past event.

About the OE Pads vs DS2500, it looks like I can stick -1.1 on average, where the OE pads allowed more like -1.0 average. Both were capable of -1.1+ (like -1.15 to -1.18), but the DS2500 could do it more often. Plus, pedal distance was lower with the DS2500. This is looking at summer and same time last year (similar weather) data at the same track.

Awesome time! Missed 1:40 by that much . (Not sure if you’re familiar with the 1:40 ongoing thing with Gingerman...)

Edit: how do you like the DS2500 pads? How are they compared to stock pads?

No, I'm not quite sure what you are referring to with the "1:40 thing"... I do think that the SS 1LE is capable of getting there in basically "stock" form though.

About the DS2500, see here:
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...5#post10782215

In summary, I like them a lot over the OE Ferodo. I've read/watched a lot of reviews on the DS2500 - half the people say they aren't good for the track and have bad pedal feel and the other half say they are great for most tracks.

FYI - DS2500 compound is what the C6Z (steel) has for OEM. They’re a nice compound that’s streetable with decent heat / Mu range and easy on rotors. They’ll probably wear more quickly on these heavy cars than DS1.11’s but cost a lot less.

The 2500’s are nice but not sure worth two to three times the cost of take off HP1000 OEM’s I’ve got a stash of.

It’s a silly thing from the Midwest Track group on Facebook. The basic summary is “you’re only cool if you run less than 1:40 at Gingerman. It’s a satirical thing.

Thanks for the feedback on the 2500’s!

Please read my review closely.

OE HP1000/1 ("DS Performance"): ~$360
Ferodo DS2500: ~$450
