What would you do or expect?

So here the deal in short... Dropped the car off with my dealership on 1/20/11 for an oil change. Had a friend meet me there and we went off to lunch while they were working on it. Left it right after noon and returned about to hours later.
Today I was cleaning the car and found a receipt from an ATT store inbetween the passenger seat and door showing payment on a customers account for a person whom i do not know, assuming someone from the dealership ... Taking the car out on lunch?!!!?!!!! To run errands?!!!!!!
Absolutely fuming at the moment.

Of course I am bring this up to the dealership first thing Monday morning but want to know what you guys would do/expect?!?!!!! Don't even know how to handle this im so mad right now!

Heading out of the house right now will check back this evening when i return!

Did you catch the mileage on your car prior to drop off?

When you leave your car for some works, employees should not use it other than the road test. In this cas I would ask compensation.... a free next oil change would do the job for me. Mostly you have some paperworks to prove your point.

They would have some explaining to do for sure. For an oil change the car should not be leaving the lot.

check the date and time on the receipt if that checks out go back to the dealer and ask if you can talk to the owner. show him the receipt and ask him what he thinks is the right thing to do....."now " . should be interesting to see what he comes up with.let us know how it comes out. good luck

+1 Date and time stamp are going to be pretty hard to explain away. If you were just going in for LOF there is not necessarily a need for a "road test". That proves nothing about the LOF.

Not sure just one oil change would do it for me. Is it the norm for a dealership to take a car out for a road test after an oil change? Your dealership has some explaining to do. Three oil changes might do it for me to continue doing business with that dealership.

Yup you got their arse nailed tot he wall as long as you got your work order, your own receipt showing the time you paid / picked up along with their appointment book.

As for what I would demand... not sure. Like you I would probably be just amazed / shocked they treat my car like that. Would have to be a lot more than just an apology... and a free oil change wouldn't cut it.

What I do when dropping off my ride is changing the display to show how many miles driven. Anyone hopping in will see that.

Even one time I went to the dealership to arrange an appointment, left me door unlocked. When I got back someone hopped in, left a couple dirty shoe marks. Was dry and easily cleaned out so let it go... still ticked me off a bit.

Always take a pic of the odometer with my cell when I drop the car off. I make sure they see me doing it. Parents had a bad experience once and it stuck in the back of my head. Probably paranoid but I don't care.

Always make sure the mileage is recorded, and recorded correctly, on the work order when you drop off your vehicle. That way, if your car comes back with questionable miles, you have documentation.

Sometimes the techs do check drivability, but for a simple oil change? Shouldn't be more than a mile on it from pulling it around the dealership.
