80Zedder was that you I met in Oshawa last June? I met someone who when I told that Red Jewel was discontinued rambled a bit about once working for GM.

I too am glad to hear that you have a new job that you like. It is really too bad that the salary is lower; but perhaps the difference in union dues taken makes up part of the difference. I hope that you did not read too much into my previous post. I do feel that you were somewhat negligent by your own admissions. Companies dont just pick employees to fire. In most cases there are numerous reasons for this and I suspect they just focused on the ONE that they had you dead to rights on. Again, I hope you, and others, have learned something. On a side note, I do agree that it is a great thing to have an employee on the board, but when one does this it raises the level of focus from just another employee to a person of who must be watched closely. In most companies where trade secrets are a key to success (I work in the same type environment but not a car company), if you choose to put yourself out there, you raise your exposure to this type of thing. One could say that you might be perceived as 'pissing in the Post Toasties' of the sales and marketing guys realm. You have taken on the face of the company publically which, unless that ask you to do this, usually does not go over well with the people in charge. |

First off: Prayers to your mother and your child with the heart condition.
Second: That was hard to read and sad that you were fired from the job you loved. Somebody wanted you gone though, and they got it done. I would hope for a better outcome for you as well, but I think it is wise for you to move on and get on with your life. Threatening to out the people you used to work for drug, alcohol and theft at the plant could have dire consequences for you and your family. (not a threat - just know that people who are willing to cheat the company they work for and break rules when doing so also will not be forgiving to the person that is attempting to get them fired.) Good luck with your future, whatever it may bring.

No, I wasent there in June. I took a small vacation instead.
I'm not outing anyone, I was making a refrence. I wasent reading into anything too much. As I said a apology for being treated like a subhuman would be all I want. Whatever happens to guilty beyond all resonable doubt? I guess that doesent apply when it benefits you right? |

Back in the late 70's to late 80's I worked in a production environment, was fired for something that wasn't nearly as bad as the mistakes that were made by others on a daily basis. PISSED ME OFF BAD for a LOONG time afterward, to the point of losing sleep over it. In the end, it's best for your own sanity, to forgive, forget and move forward with your life. Hopefully one day you'll say, "It was one of the best things that happened in my life". Some of us have been where you are, you're not alone.

No, that wasent even brought up.
I'm still waiting to hear something from Gm. Doubt they will even PM. I have a few things on the burner, let's see how things play out. Glad I could help you guys when I could and inject some humor in a unhumorous world. I hope gm is enjoying their record profits as they are grating up to screw the worker again this year. |

Holy crap. I am so sorry you had to go through this! It's good to see you have another job already though. I hope everything works out for you and your family! |

Sorry to hear about the ordeal you went through, and they obviously had it in their head to get rid of you, not matter what.
This isn't something new, it happens everywhere. In my opinion, this only happens to those who do their job, and the reason for it, is because you're not one of "them". More importantly, the reason it happens to the hard dedicated workers, is because you're a threat to those who do as little as possible (a.k.a. lazy). Hold your head up; maybe you should try and get a job with another manufacturer, and throw it in their face, they obviously don't deserve YOU. I'm sure this is also hard on others, who are also hard working & dedicated employees. It's hard to be proud of a company when this kind of stuff goes on. Good Luck, and we'll always support you here.

If you had any chance of going back, I would say you took that away with this thread. Good luck to you anyhow.

Hang in there. I know what it's like to be taken advantage of at your job. I haven't been fired(yet) but got demoted 2 years ago and am still being held from promotion without reason. If you haven't already, take MisterCamaro's advice and let it go. The people that screwed you over will never offer you an apology because if they were nice enough to say they're sorry, they wouldn't have gotten you fired. Most likely they were just jealous of your success. You can always hold your head high if you know that you've always done your best and treated others with respect. Good luck with your new job, hope it turns out to be a better path for you in the long run.

I'm kinda keeping out of the auto sector for now. Too many ass kissers and too much walking in egg shells for me. I've been working around cars since I can every remember. I'm a red seal certified automotive technician. And I'm contemplating taking the AMT "aviation maintenance Technicin" course my employer is offering soon.
I'm just not sure if this is where I want to be. But building challanger 880 and global 5000 jets is very, very cool. And way more technical then I ever imagined. Any aerospace guys on this board, I tip my hat to all of you, this is not like building a cookie cutter camaro!! And for clarification, as I know gm will be reading every post I put up. By cookie cutter I mean, take part A and put in slot B. repeat 500 times a shift. This take brain power. And avaiaton management is alot more freindly and employee engaging then You guys could ever hope to be. Hell you guys should have made me a supervisor awhile ago. Inwould have been the most productive there! I have a wife I don't need to sexually harass the SWES, or spend 7 hours finding ways to make our life miserable the take an hour lunch. No PM's yet. Not surprised. |

UNLESS it was allegedly “guys that are higher then kites and drunk out of their heads” who built my car. I would care at that point...just saying
