Jesus..

Volcano supposedly was an effect of seismic shift on the plates after one of the aftershocks. No surprise since these aftershocks are probably still rating in the 7.0 max.

They said #3 is intact at this moment but they're pretty sure those trying to secure it are gone. It was a good sized blast too from the footage obtained and posted on YT.

Right now I heard that they're consulting the teams that studied Chernobyl to handle all this. Due to it's coastal installation though any leakage from a damaged reactor should get swept out into the pacific.

Update:

Looks like the volcano had actually gone off a few times this year (once in January), and was dormant for a few weeks. Guess the shift in the plates caused it to pop again like a half popped zit.

Yeah.. I think this one tops Kobe. It's what, the 3rd 8.0+ quake in the past two years?

If this is just coincidence, it's a very sickening and twisted one.

They're right there...and if everything we know about earthquakes is true...this shouldn't happen again (at least not like this) for a very long time...but it makes it no less pleasant....

I don't ever want to experience any earthquake that high on the Richter scale...

I don't know.... Japan gets hit with a huge one. How long before Cali gets one too? My area is right where San Andreas fault lines are.

If you're worried...and by all rights, you should be; move...quickly.

Japan was supposedly "the most prepared country in the world"....admittedly, CA probably won't have to deal with a tsunami...But it isn't going to be fun. The longer it takes to "shake"....the worse it's going to be (and that concept is in the hundreds of years, but still...)
