GT500 specs

I figured this may interest some people here. Personally I love my ZL1 and i've never been a Mustang fan but these cars have always been closely linked. Here is a You-tube video with some specs... Spoiler alert... Looks like it will be faster than the ZL1

Road and track just refuted these claims.

Yeah, if the GT 500 can't easily beat the ZL1 in a drag race they failed. It must have at least 750 HP.

I fully expect the GT500 to be faster than the ZL1 in a straight line.
I predict/guess/gut-feeling the GT500 will be *close* to the ZL1 on the track, but through more use of brute force and less finesse.

Cars have reached a point where I no longer seek more brute force.
Not even to reach faster lap times on paper.

I hope the GT500 is a great car. Doesn’t bother me if it’s “faster’ than the ZL1.

My guess is on par with the 1LE in handling and a little faster in a straight line but not ZR1 speed. I can't see how it could be anything else which would be a big fail.

YEP.

The GT500 is still on the old/outdated chassis, you can only hide that so much. You can throw coils, sticky rubber, less rubber in the bushings, etc., but there is only so much you can do before the chassis becomes the limiting factor.

The alpha chassis is still miles better.

Correct, 2020 will be the 6th year on the same chassis and really no updates of anything special

There is nothing made in North America in any numbers, that can beat the current ZR1. And Ford hates that. They have never had an answer for the vette. The news I read is that the ZR1 beat the Ford GT by accident on some track I forget. The ZR1 is just too light and Ford keeps putting in a back seat. They could really make something but won't.
