It really does suck that we get reduced performance and experience because of having to use crappy 91 octane gas. I mean it's nice I have the option to get a good mix, but the fill up cost is double.

I can rationalize it now because I am driving less and working from home, but there is no way I could do that on a regular basis if I was driving every day.
If I lived in cali, and bought a camaro, I’d have an e85 sensor and tune in there within 24 hours of buying it.

Don’t have e85 in NJ (well like 4 stations in the state) But we have 93

No dice for me. I only plan to keep it 2 or 3 more years before moving on to a C8 Z06 or Porsche GT4, I do not want to void my warranty or potential resale/trade-in value

I was literally about to sign the paperwork on a boxster spyder the same day the virus shutdown happened.

No adm right now.

Oh and spyder > gt4 lol

yeah, now is I great time if you have the means to get a new sports car.

I can't do a Spyder for a sports car, I know they are built better these days, but any sports car I get, I always want the hardtop version, just more rigid and more focused.

I think I only had the targa off my C6 a half dozen times in 4 years/60,000 miles.

based on this thread I tried 93 for ~2 weeks about 2 tanks while gas prices had bottomed out in the last few weeks and I found no difference or reason it was better than 91 I had been using. Not worth the 10 mile drive out of my way to get it, 93 isn't widely avail in my AO.

My .02 for what it's worth and from my experience.

There is a station near me that has 94,96, 98, 101.

My first attempt at trying a higher octane was the 94. I experienced the same result as you, did't not notice a difference or any other changes.

My second attempt, like I stated in the first post, was a mixture of 101 and 91. My tank was just about empty when I did this, and the results were much better and different from my first attempt.

My theory is that since the 94 is an odd octane and most probably don't use it, who knows how long it sat in the holding tank and who knows what the actual octane rating was. It probably was not enough for the ECU to change the mapping profile.

My last attempt, like I said I was just about on empty and added the 101 first, then the 91. The results were definitely there, as stated in my original post. Before you write it off, and if you have access to 101, I would try that route and see if your results are different.

Are you talking about the station off 680 in Sunol? If so, is their 101 unleaded?

I have used that station before, but on this particular post, it was from the 76 station in SJ off Foxworthy and Almaden Expressway.

I'm not positive, but I do believe they are all unleaded. I would think it would be illegal to sell leaded gas in CA at regular stations. CA is the worst state in the Union with regards to emissions.

Thanks for the info. I plan on trying some 101 octane over the weekend.

If you monitor your knock sensors and timing, you’ll notice a difference. But yeah 10 miles, f that

i’ve been putting nothing but e85 in the car since april. content is mid-low 70s as of yesterday. i can say it was 90* last weekend, humidity in the 90% range. i flogged the car then let it sit and idle about 10 minutes. with iats will over 125*, i immediately did a 0-125 pull. no knock on 29*.

ethanol is good stuff. not to mention it smells way better than gas does on a catless setup. why gm doesn’t offer factory flex fuel for every gasoline engine is beyond me.

Are you saying, you've been filling E85 in the car stock with no issues? Is there more power?
