If I am just at say test n tune or at a track day type event where I can just go all out in my car fun is most important.

High revs is a placebo. Look at the Hellcats. Their RPM limit bone stock is 6250. And that car will do 200 MPH. The car that revs to the moon is stuck at 180 MPH because of whatever reason. Going around a track, the ZL1 keeps up because it is a very well balanced car. So for all the talk about high revs, it doesn't do anything more than a well built low revving car does. It just makes people think it does because the engine is screaming while going around a corner. But trust me, it is no fun when you're in the lane that ends and some chick beats you in her Solstice because you didn't have enough room to get into your powerband. |

Obvious comment here... put a beginner on R Comps and he or she is going to be significantly slower than you or I around any track in the same car. This is of course down to experience gained through seat time. Concerning your R Comp vs x track days on AS tires scenario above. I wouldn't be too hasty to make that statement. Speed, in either case, will largely depend on the instructor/s skills in helping this individual progress as a driver. I've seen plenty of guys and a few gals make little to no progress with instructors that try to push the driver beyond their comfort zone. Which ultimately undermines any opportunity to build said driver's confidence. And as you know going fast really comes down to driver confidence in his or herself and the equipment they are in. Noob out! LOL |

Very good point and I believe GM doesn't get enough credit for the outstanding eLSD in Camaro and Corvette. It really is a game changer, especially when you learn how to exploit the benefits provided. Just another example of Frod not being able to compete on a technical level with GM.

In first gear you’d be going between 27 and 48 mph. More manageable ...I guess ...if you’re into driving around in first gear. The Camaro pulls hard off idle so it’s great on the street. It’s also designed for, and fully equipped / warrantied for the track. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...re=74YR9PS4SXL

"Active differentials aren't new-the Z06's basic hardware is available on the Stingray-but because this one deals with a bonkers V8, the effect is eye-opening. It's also the most engagingly subtle use of the technology outside the 730-hp Ferrari F12berlinetta, which triples the Z06's price. Alex MacDonald, one of the Corvette's chassis engineers, attributes much of the subtlety to GM's tuning philosophy: They want motion on the taillights. "The diff helps the car suck back into a drift instead of just dropping into a tankslapper," he told me. And then a flicker of disappointment crossed his face. "We did a lot of calculations with competitors' [active diffs]. That's partly why we developed ours in-house. Everyone's pretty binary, on-off, not making full use of the potential. You turn in, all's great and the car is loose [and sliding], and then the diff just sucks the car down. It's boring." https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...-drive-review/
