Exhaust ideas...
I am aware that this has been done to death but I've got yet another exhaust question (in-between using the search function!)
I was running long-tube headers (don't know the brand - bought with them in situ), stainless steel system with cats (possibly Borla) and Borla axle-backs (I think that they're Borla S). Now Iwas very disappointed with the noise levels which were waaaay too quiet up until c.3500+ rpm whereupon it was quite pleasant but still too civil . Whilst the car was in the garage for some paint I had the axle-backs removed and the right volume was to be had - however, obviously, there is a little trade off... on a light throttle it sounds really good and not too loud, stand on it and it is quite raucous really give it some beans and it sounds like WWIII approaching . Now whilst I am happy with the volume levels (maybe a little quieter wouldn't be a bad thing ) it does sound a little 'rough' or 'uncultured' for want of a better expression and the drone at 40ish mph is mother . Given that I'm not really too worried about the volume at high revs (don't visit 4k and over that often to be an issue) what sort of axle-back could give me what I want: 'rough' edges to the sound 'smoothed off' and drone ameliorated (if not gone completely) 1. Would a generic silencer manage to take off the excess raspyness/roughness? 2. would a J-pipe without a silencer do anything (except with help the drone) 3. I'm not going with electric cut-outs (no weeds etc) as buy the time they're over here and fitted it's waaaay to expensive and our annual roadworthyness tests can be a little 'fussy' regarding these 4. car is a 2013 SS auto (cylinder deactivation has been shut off) |

Why did you decide to go with the Borla S-Type instead of the ATAK?

I don't see how a movie is going to help his exhaust....
