Header comparison
Hey guys, I was wondering, has anyone done any header side by side comparison tests? I'm curious to see the difference between say a Texas speed and say a stainless works, or hooker header. It would be nice to see actual real world dyno numbers of just the headers.

If you're looking for differences in dyno numbers, I wouldn't look so much at brands, as I would at the size of the primaries and whether or not you want catalytic converters. Each brand that offers a 1 7/8" header will produce approximately the same power. Each brand that offers a 2" header will produce approximately the same power. Differences could be attributed to an array of factors but most of it, is well within the noise.

I don't think you are going to see a big difference power wise from one brand to the other. LT headers just don't gain the power on these cars as other platforms. The factory TRI-Y are pretty good once you remove the primary cats. Also there is little to no power gain with 2" headers until you go FI or Heads/Cam.
Another thing to note is that some of the cheap headers have fitment issues. Also I have seen reports of those Speed Engineering headers cracking...could of been a bad batch dunno. TSP 2" hit the steering shaft but the 1 7/8 seem to drop in fine. So if you decide 2" Kooks or ARH as they seem to clear with no mods but you pay dearly for them.

That is good to hear! I know with my old car, I bought a $650 header, but if I went with the $1400 header it gained around 10 hp, but completely different engine. Thanks for the insight as always guys.

Deals can be had, for sure. You just have to shop around and work out some details but, I got my headers for $908 shipped through Summit.

I for one want to stay catted as far as primaries. I hated smelling like raw fuel on previous cars and having to find a state inspection "hook up". I got Stainless Works longtube with cats on my 15 Mustang GT for about $1k. Crazy how much folks keep going up on these things. Not sure which ones to get, but I won't be going FI, not even sure about heads/cam.
Those Kooks must have went up all of a sudden! https://www.summitracing.com/parts/k...t/model/camaro

i love it when people say headers don't make a difference. race one that has headers against one who doesn't have them. Headers are worth it. go with the good brands arh, kooks, and tsp.

What made you chose those? Just asking as I haven't heard much about them.

I also got my Rotofab from Maryland Speed for low 300’s but, that was because I was calling them and complaining about how long it was taking to arrive. I got it for $380 from them originally but, it took nearly three months to get it so, my paid amount kept dropping. My Flowmasters were $900 flat, too but, all the items from Pray, I paid full price for. Which I don’t mind since it’s helping him to establish himself in the marketplace.
