2013 V6 exhaust diameter vs. performance

Hello all, searching around couldn't find the specs on a 2013 V6 stock piping diameter. I'm assuming its 2.25" and I will crawl under her this weekend to verify, just thought I'd ask the forum if anyone knew for sure. Also wondering what is recommend for the best flow/performance for this setup (intake, cat back, jet performance module and 91 octane). I was thinking cat to a single muffler (dual in dual out) 2.5" and 2.5" from there to the tips and maybe 4" tips. The resonators have been removed from the previous owner already though. thank you

Its 2.5 inch pipe to the stock H pipe, then 2.25 out the back of the H pipe to the mufflers. You'd be good to go starting from the cats with 2.5 inch pipe.

I couldn't say what the best exhaust system is. My car is straight piped all the way.

Thanks, I won;t have time until next weekend to bring it into the muffler shop but i wanted to crawl under there and see how big the piping was so I could get 0.25" bigger for a little better flow. I was thinking 2.5" from cats to a magnafolw dual in/dual out 2.5" muffler and 2.5" muffler back with no resonators to two 4" tips. Wondering if it will be too loud or from what I've read have a drone or raspy sound??

So you want to go 2.5" pipe to a "resonated x-pipe" (muffler/x-pipe combo) and then straight 2.5" pipe back? That's exactly what I did; it's fairly loud but not too loud, but there is a bit of drone around 1700 - 2200 RPM or so, so I ended up having j-pipes installed before the tips and they helped reduced the drone pretty well; no rasp. Eventually I'll install Solo's cat assemblies but I'm waiting for the warranty to expire, and these should deepen the tone a bit as well as add some volume.

Actually what I wanted to do was just a large dual inlet/outlet 2.5" or 2.25" muffler under the car with matching size piping back to 4" tips without a resonator and no x pipe and keep the stock cats.

That was before I had the car lifted up and checked, apparently, the girl before me I bought the car had her weirdo husband (supposed ford tech ) deleted the resonator/s and replaced them with what looks to be 2.25" piping from the center of the car, back to 2" piping (crush bent) and welded on 2 Magnaflow 14" mufflers with two 2.5" tips. She's pretty quiet until I get on the gas hard and even then it's not that loud. The lady I bought the car from was all excited when I told her I'm going to swap out the exhaust, she goes "ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE IT LOUDER???!?" I'm like umm yea duh lol .

Apparently from what I can see (again eyeballing it, I'll make measurements before I get it done next sat) the stock set up goes like this. 2.5" piping connects the headers to the cats, about 10-12" after the cats the piping tappers down to 2.25" from there which is about the center of the car was a large resonator/s, then I can only guess as my car came modified it stays 2.25" back to the stock mufflers. Anyone have a pic or diagram of the stock 2013 V6 exhaust setup??

plans might have changed to remove the manaflow mufflers and just run 2.25" piping from the cats back no resonators or mufflers. I'll have the muffler shop chop off the mufflers first, I'll see if the car sounds too loud or raspy. If it does i will just put in two small resonators on it and the 4" tips and call it a day. Car is stock, but getting a cold air intake ASAP, not sure if I should do that before doing the exhaust as I can't see it making that much of a difference in exhaust sound but I could be totally wrong??? any input is much appreciated guys .

SO... I'm running 2.25" from the H-pipe area (without the H pipe or factory resonators) no mufflers and 4" black tips. Looks sick, in love with the bigger black tips (no Homo) but its WAY TOO LOUD. Its raspy as hell from 2600-4500rpm when you are 50% or more on the throttle. I need help with a choice.

1. put on two 2.25" resonators to help quiet it down.
2. put on two 2.25" round mufflers.
3. burn it to the ground and collect the insurance money . jk
4. Any suggestions would appreciated.

Thanks!

Any videos? I just bought my Camaro a week ago and I am looking for the best sound.

We are all looking for a better sound than stock, I see!

When I get the time, I think I will check out getting the SS x-pipe, then cat-back dual straight muffs like a Cherry bomb.

Sorry for the late response, been trying to finish my rally car build. Here is her starting up at idle, i'll try and get one of me driving but at high revs sounds like a tuba horn or a ricer .

How did you go about getting j-pipes installed? Did you have a shop near you do it custom? About how much did it cost? How long are your pipes?

Sorry for bombarding you with questions, I've just recently looked into Hemhotlz tubes (J-pipe). The drone you described is what I'm dealing with now with the MRTv2. I've been complaining about drone from day 1 but most advice I read was to "wait a couple months until the system "'reaks in' and you won't even notice it". Well I've had it about 6 months and though a little better, it's still annoying as shit in the same 1700-2200rpms range.

The j-pipes my local shop installed were from a Solo Performance cat-back system, they just pulled them off and cut/welded the bases onto my pipes. I have 2.5" pipe and the j-pipes are 2.25" but they still work. I found a chart regarding how long the pipes need to be to eliminate drone at specific RPMs (not sure what website, was a forum, just google something like " exhaust drone j-pipes"). Cost me about $300 all in.

Although the pipes reduced the drone a lot there was a noise right around 1750 RPM that I didn't like, kind of a higher-pitch, annoying, almost "bitchy" sound to be honest, whether both pipes were at minimum length or max (they're adjustable) so I kept the passenger side j-pipe on at minimum length (may still adjust this to better tune it) and the driver's side pipe I actually removed and just put the cap end on (so it is very short) - this way I still get a bit of drone but the drone masks that noise.

In your case since you have the MRT, do you have a x-pipe/muffler (aka resonated x-pipe from Magnaflow)? I hear this reduces drone. I have the resonated x-pipe but I also don't have any mufflers after that so I still get drone.

I do not have an x-pipe. The axle-back is the only mod I've made to impact exhaust note. I plan on getting a CAI soon though. Am I interpreting your earlier comment right that you have the J-pipe welded on after the mufflers? Everything I've read about J-pipes says to weld them before the mufflers as that's where most of the drone comes from.

My j-pipes are where they normally would be - behind the mufflers at the rear axle - but I don't have mufflers by the axle; instead I have the "resonated x-pipe" (muffler + x-pipe combo) where the factory h-pipe was and then 2.5" pipe back.
