Correct you have to put the vehicle in tire learning mode.
Scroll to your tire pressure tab on the dash. While in park with car on/off hold the Sel button, you will hear your car beep twice. Your dash will then say tire learning active. Starting with front left tire hold EL-device near side wall by TPMS and press button and hold, you will hear car honk when TPMS is program for that side is finished. To note your vehicle will show you turn signal light on outside of vehicle noting you to go from from left all the way around. See video: https://youtu.be/tque_-VrMgw |

Tried it again following instructions (duh) and it didn't work. Will be trying a different model soon.

Did it not work because the car wouldn't go into learning mode, or because the tool didn't activate the sensors? If it didn't go into learning mode, make sure your parking brake is on.

Everything was setup correctly. I got a different one and it worked so must have just been a bad one the first time.
