Experience with 6 Piston Brakes on a V6
I'm looking to place an order for a 1LT, but trying to decide if the 4 piston upgrade or 6 piston upgrade would be better.
The car would see daily driving plus a decent diet of about 4 HPDE's a year in Advanced group. I would plan on dedicated track tires with a treadwear of 200 to 220. Does anyone have on-track experience with either of these? I'm leaning toward the $3300 6 piston kit to be safe, but want to make sure it's worth it, especially for a V6. Are there any aftermarket brake pad options for the factory 6 piston kit? It would also get the factory lowering kit option.

Thanks for the help
I forgot to ask - can the oil cooler still be ordered with the 6 piston setup? The online configurator only allows an oil cooler with the 4 piston setup as a package

Hell, I have the 6 pistons on my 2.0T, The pedal feel and stopping power are off the charts.

My car also has the 6-piston 1LE brakes, but it's a teeny weeny bit heavier with all the extra hardware, yet it stops extremely well with a fantastic pedal feel... now that 2.0T must be at least 400 lbs lighter.

I’ve seen a picture of an SS with 6 pistons and factory 18’s used as winter wheels… looks like it should fit with the 18’s…. If you do a google search, it may come up…. It’s strange, the whole wheel is filled with rotor and caliper… with that said, I have 4 piston V6 1LE setup myself and they are very nice.

I several other SS 1LE owners are using the stock base 18x8.5 five-spoke wheels with our six-piston Brembos up front. It's close, but it fits.

I am thinking of upgrading to the SS 1LE 6 piston breaks but during the winter I run a set of cheap aftermarket 18" wheels with winter tires.
Are the 6 piston breaks guaranteed to fit on the stock 18" rim only or will an aftermarket generic 18" rim fit as well? Has anyone tried it? Or in other words, what is the clearance required for the 6 piston breaks? I guess I can measure the inner diameter of the rims I have and see if it fits.

What's the aftermarket like for pads for the 6 piston setup?
Are there as many choices as the 4 piston setup?
