Well, I've been lurking and reading for awhile. This is my first post and I'm posting it this thread because I'm in Western Canada and I found a dealer last week that didn't have anybody committed on their ZL1 allocation. I did my part and they claim now that the order is in the system! The deal is on Nightfall Grey Convertible M6, exposed carbon hood insert.

Was looking at the Anniversary Edition 2SS but after doing the research on the ZL1 it was no comparison. For the extra money it's not even close. With the current USD/CAD exchange rate my feeling is that GM isn't interested in putting many units into Canada when they will make a significant amount more in the US market. The converted MSRP differential US to Canada is considerable.

Is there anyway to confirm that a dealer has an allocation? My local dealership salesman is a nice guy and I've been treated very well in the past by the dealership.. I have told him that I'm considering trading my 2014 C7 for the ZL1. He had mentioned to do the paperwork so I would be at the top of the list for a ZL1. I am a little hesitant doing up a deal and waiting forever without knowing for sure they have an allocation.
I'm sure this info is somewhere on the forum so I'll try searching some more. Would the GM Workbench confirm an allocation? Thanks guys!

Sales manager at the dealership should know for sure. It's their job.

Not that I'm aware of, but I'd love to know if you find a way.

Wow, seems a lot is limited by GM Canada. Corvette special / performance models, too. Wonder if there were any "demand" studies done?

ALL Ontario dealers HAVE been told by the GM District Manager to the Store Sales Manager if they are getting an allocation or not.

Go straight to the Sales Manager and don't waste your time with a hopeful sales person. They may not be in the "know"...

Time is of essence here for you.

Well, guess that GM doesn't want my business and there will be no ZL1 for me after all.

I am curious as to what is the main constrain here. They are cutting shifts at the factory, so clearly there is additional capacity. Thinner margin is still better than an idling factory.

Can it be the LT4 motor? The Z06 and CTS-V ain't exactly flying off the shelf and we are seeing some big discounts. So, surely they can reallocate some of the LT4 to the ZL1. Referring to production capacity here, I am aware that Z06 has dry dump.

Transmission maybe? Well, I will gladly drive the manual. Love the Tremec TR-6060 anyways. Surely Tremec can supply GM another 100-300 TR-6060 geared for the ZL1 for Canada?

p.s. First time posting. Wonderful community and an amazing source of information.

Ontario, no 2017 Allocation. Maybe that just means no allocation for me. They don't know when the 2018 will show up.

The problem for me is that the 2018 can show up late summer/fall. The car will need to be put in storage before it's even broken in.

Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. The only Cities in Canada with over a million people. Best odds of finding one at a dealer in one of these cities.
