One thing I dont see anyone mentioning is that the buttheads in DC have been expanding the money supply for years now. With some really insane printing numbers in the last year and a half.
Not just fuel has gone up but real obvious inflation like we have not seen really since the early 80s is a reality. So you need to factor that in when you consider selling. Not just the dollar for dollar comparison. Without the typical smoke and mirrors inflationary mumbo jumbo we have likely seen somewhere in the 8% to 10% inflation rate. Particularly since they seem to be admitting to something like 5%. We paid 47,000 for our 2019 2ss vert on a 53,000 sticker in Jan. of 2020. Its good to know its holding its value but I doubt we could find anything remotely as satisfying for the same money now. Although selling it and replacing it with gold and lead might not be a bad idea.

I sold my 2019 2SS and 2020 ZL1 in August.
SS was 34 months old with 11,000 miles. Sold it to a dealer for a $210.00 less than I paid for it. ZL1 was 23 months old with 5,500 miles. Sold it to the same dealer for $800.00 less than I paid for it. I will lose about $1200 in sales tax. I ordered a 2022 SS. I may have to wait awhile to get it but I have a Silverado to drive in the meantime.

For like 20 minutes I thought about selling it for a C5Z but I got through that phase pretty quickly.

Have 2 camaros 2018 zl1 1le with 1843 miles and a 2018 ss 1le with 5500 miles and would not sell either one. Had my hand forced on my 2015 z06 z07 pkg car though as my brother in-law rolled it on sept 11th this year with 5600 miles on it. Would like to get another one but I will wait and see if the chip situation gets better and the prices go back down. If they do I could stand to make out very well. I will have to settle on only 2 sunny sunday cars for now

I think if inflation keeps up like it is, and we keep printing money and wasting spending on racist highways….AND if the Taiwan computer chips are still delayed in the spring, my Camaro might be worth $400,000…. LOL.
I’m in a good spot because mine has 7,000 miles on it and it is in pristine condition. Likewise it’s just my fun car, so if I’m offered the right number, I will take it. |

Many posts on this forum over the last few months about guys selling. I won't be selling mine anytime soon. Enjoy it way to much. Only way I'd be selling it is if I was upgrading to an '18 HyperBlue ZL1

Thanks for the feedback guys. OP here.
If I was getting a C8, the Camaro definitely would be sold. If I wait until I actually buy a C8, then I suspect I'd take a huge loss on the Camaro. If we were in a normal world right now, i'd definitely take a loss on the Camaro anytime I sold it. Even though I bought it used CPO and the original buyer took the major brunt of depreciation, I'd still take a loss in a normal world. The way it stands now however, I'm looking at making money on the car. Worst case if I went straight to CarMax I'd break even. I already have 2 offers (Facebook offers, so I take that with a big grain of salt) that would net me a profit. Given the current market I'm looking for a little more than these offers right now. I'd still have the Vette convertible and 2 bikes for my sunny weather driving. With winter about to set in though, none of those are getting driven (hi po summer tires on the Vette). I did put All Season tires on the Camaro, so I will drive that until the first snow, but then it gets shoehorned into Garage Mahal for the next 4-5 months. That's another consideration I learned last year. Garage Mahal gets crowded with 2 cars and 2 bikes in there. Had 3 bikes in there last winter and one I was working on to put up for sale in the spring and it was near ridiculous working in there. With only 1 car in there, it's much more reasonable. The only scenario I can see where I'd really regret selling the Camaro is if I don't get a C8 (would keep the C6 vert until delivery of the C8, so always have a hot rod to drive around). If I decide I don't like the C8 (haven't sat in one yet), then I might want to hot rod out the Camaro. Maybe some forced induction and other goodies. I don't know, decisions, decisions. |

On one hand I think the majority of the consumers won't care, they will just like the instant torque and not having to fill up for $4.00 per gallon. On the other hand, I don't see enthusiasts being fully satisfied with performance EVs just yet. EVs don't offer that visceral driving experience you get from performance ICE cars so there may be a nice following of folks that will continue to pay good money for the Camaro. Also, keep in mind, this supply shortage is not going away anytime soon. It has actually been getting worse lately and backorders keep piling up.

I'll sell mine when I can get a reasonable deal on an SS. I don't drive much because my current job, I work from home. My brother wants to buy my RS.
The SS I plan to go used and spend about 30k, so, I'll be waiting for a while. Got other house priorities to take care of first before buying another car. |

I sold two fun cars in the last 5 months. Probably got ~ $24k more than I would’ve if the market was normal.
I just ordered another Camaro. Typically I get at least 5K off car when I buy, or I walk away. But for now, I’m making an assumption that I’ll pay sticker minus GM card credits. The extra $ recovered by selling two cars in “this market” is paying for ~ 65% of the new car. So, I’m making out OK.. or at least that’s my logic. |
