best clutch for big HP

My car is currently making a 1000 wheel and i am running the RXT 1200

getting ready to turn it up to around 1300 or so maybe a little more and my clutch is showing signs of end of life (has around 18k Miles on it)

what does everyone recommend for a clutch.

Obviously i want it to hold the power and not chatter and have a super great pedal feel haha.

Opinions?

Mcleod 1200hd, Mantic, Monster, or Tilton. Pick your choice.
Double or triple will suffice.

I run a Mantic triple. Has stock-like engagement and is supposed to be good to 1500hp. It uses a ZR1 CSC.

A few years back a lot of guys were running the Street Slayer triple from Hendrix. but a lot of them moved to autos at that power level to be more consistent and have a trans brake.

I have had McLeod twin, Mantic twin and now a Spec 3+ single on a car with 610rwhp.

On my car, the McLeod had a vibration from 1400 to 1700 rpm that they would not warranty.
The Mantic only made it 5k miles and the spline hubs were warped and damaged on the clutch disks.
The Spec is so far the best clutch I have had in the car. Drives like stock and is holding up great even after several drag strip trips.

I ran the RPS Street Slayer Triple Carbon disc clutch, up to 1300+ hp…

Better than stock feel, took 1700 RWHP (on spray) with a 4100 lb car in 5th gear, no slippage…

They are pricey, but they are fully rebuildable, knocking the price down with every rebuild, which do not occur any more frequently than replacing an organic or ceramic clutch…

I was told the Mantic would not hold / last with 1300 RWHP, and I had a twin disc Act, which was a nasty on / off switch… Sent it back for a rebuild, they “tweaked” it, didn’t even clean it, and returned it to me, “it’s all good to go…”

I’ve had great service and support from Thomas Hendrix… 980-521-0722

Not to derail the thread, but were you running a stock 6060 at that power level?

Lol, I wish..

I’ve been through several, 8-10 iterations of 6060’s.

Stock 6060

Act twin disc…. 800 rwhp

We changed blockers and synchros…. No help…

We changed to a 300M input shaft… No Help…

Blockers and synchros to help support the new input shaft… No Help…

New motor, more power, new clutch…

RPS Triple Carbon Clutch (Street Slayer) No missed shifts ever, no grinding during shifts.

New motor, way more power, new complete build TR6060… Billet shafts, billet gears, etc…. The Transzilla (plus) from RSG (Rockland Standard Gear) George challenged me to break it…. Lmao, challenge accepted…

6000 RPM clutch dump at Lucas Oil Raceway, twisted the input shaft… Told George, he said it couldn’t be twisted, so I sent him the photo…. I then went over 200 mph at the Texas Mile with the same trans and twisted shaft… 1700 rwhp on spray, spinning the tires in 5th gear at 200 mph…

Never had any issues with the triple clutch shifting, though we popped the motor again and so we sent the trans back when we had it out…. George called me and said the input shaft was indeed twisted, as was the main shaft so bad he couldn’t get the gears off, and had to build a complete new unit… He big time took care of me….

RPS Quad Disc Carbon clutch (Street Slayer)

Pitched the Nitrous, bigger turbos, new motor spinning way higher, 9000 rpm shifts,

Substantial shift issues due to the RPM, as verified by George and Thomas….

Our next goal was to have a Pfitzger Performance Group (PPG) sequential trans built on the TR6060 chassis….

My health put that on the back burner for now…

A built 6060 will take anything you can toss as it…. I’ve tossed 2400-2500 flywheel hp at it, in 5th gear at 225 plus mph and it’s held…. It just doesn’t care to shift at 9000 rpm with using the clutch to shift…. There is a long explanation why but I have already run on too long… Sorry for that….

Thanks, mine is just the 9310 shaft with blockers and synchros shifting at 6500. Sometimes I think it's overkill when I hear about guys pushing 1000hp on stock 6060s, but maybe not after reading your post.

Also agree that Rockland is a great vendor.
