Oh come on, "they're gonna stretch" and "aluminum is too soft for rods" and "Aluminum? Like a soda can??"

There. Now it doesn't need to be said here.

Exactly! My buddy had the same set for 7 years before he put new ones in. I guess I'll get first hand experience

Not 5th gen related but pertains to the build. Finally getting the wife involved in racing and bought this ragged out s10 a few years back to build. Well with mine being broke all the time I decided to finish it for her and get her out there. This thing has new cab corners/rockers, fresh glass, new paint, and a fresh drivetrain. Its big tire as well. Just a few odds and ends and it's done. Its going to cut into my builds funding so updates/progress will be slower. Bare with me guys

She is going to have a blast. I've tried to get my wife out there but I just get this look like I'm lucky she's letting me do it.

Yes I've seen that look to, especially when I ask her to take a ride down the 1/4 mile with me. Not happening.

That is awesome that your spouse wants to get involved as well! Sharp truck, please share more details about the drivetrain.

Thanks guys!

It's a 406" gen 1 sbc. 14:1 compression, solid roller deal on e85. Th350 with a brake, Moser 12 bolt, 5.38 gear and 32x14 tire. Went through and made it look as nice as I could. All blacked out, shaved roll pan, bed cover.

She's gonna S&%T when she let's go of that button the first time and it's on the bumper though with that short wheel base and gear

Well after a long talk with the tuner I decided to make the switch to c16 and an a/w intercooler. Traded a fellow 5th gen guy intake for intake.

Holley hi ram, 417 motorsports 2k hp core, 417 water manifolds, holley 102mm tb, and ice tank/pump. Worked out perfect for both of us.

Cam also showed up. Very slowly gathering parts

Very cool, I saw this posted elsewhere and had to come see more detail…

Been almost 2 months since an update. Still waiting on pistons but they have been ordered for about 6 weeks now. They are a custom ross piston, 9.4cc dome, .225 wall h13 pin, and total seal ap 1/16 top ring set. Exactly what I wanted to help a ring live. Static compression is 12.1:1.

Also on order is the crower 66278TH-16 lifters and their stainless steel shaft mount rockers for the f310 head.

Lastly ordered a holley lo ram, part number 300-679, as I don't think the hi ram will clear with the engine setback

So the last thing I need to do is send my heads in to be redone for the solid roller cam.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering if you got it all figured out yet or not.

Just taking a while to recover/upgrade. Stuff is pretty expensive at this point in the game
