new ZLE! question...

Hey guys, got a quick question.

I found a 2021 ZLE A10 thats selling for MSRP (dealers near me wanted 10-20k over MSRP), but the problem is that its 550 miles away from me. On my day of pickup there appears to be a bit of rain. will it be a problem if I take it easy on wet highways?

I have driven an e92 m3 in snowing conditions on PSS tires with traction control off (it wouldnt go anywhere with it on) with no issues except going side ways all the time. Would driving on the F1 3Rs be a pretty similar experience to that?

Thanks in advance

I have driven mine in the rain a couple of times. As long as it's warm and there isn't standing water I have had no problems. Just keep traction control on of course and no cruise. Stay out of the ruts if possible and you should be good to go.

appreciate your input man! my goal is to get a set of wheels and ps4s put on for around town driving, and keep the stock tires/wheels for track events.

did you change your oil at 500 miles?

It can be done however you cannot predict how much rain on the road at a given time. If you can take your time and are willing to pull over wait till heavy rain over and streets had time to loose the puddles it can be done. We have all seen the ass end come around even going slow unfortunately. No tread depth as simple as that friend. I would wait for better weather or transport it. The other option myself and others have done is put street tires on it which is advisable anyway and use the R comps for what they are intended for which is basically track only. I have them in separate rims for track days. With my Continental Extreme Contacts I would be comfortable in the rain they are fantastic same size as factory. Good luck

Pretty good advice, I am willing to pull off the highway whenever needed. Then again, it may not rain at all : D

I would not drive it on wet roads with the GY’s. I wouldn’t be willing to take that chance. There are lots of people that wish they didn’t do it. If the deal is done just do the paperwork from home and wait for a nice day to take delivery.

If it is raining, just drive conservative and you will be alright! I drove 200 miles in the pouring rain with NT01s on the car and had no issues.

looks like we have 2 parties:

1. don't do it
2. it can be done just be careful

Another options, I could have 4 tires shipped to the dealer before Tuesday and get them installed. but then will the stock tires fit in the car?

Sure. Just stay hyper aware of how much traction you have and be prepared to creep with the hazards on, preferably on the access road if possible.

Between the trunk and back seat (and even front seat if you're doing the trek alone), you'll be good. Personally, I'd just take it slower and drive with what's on there.

Something that also helps me when I drive in the rain is put ptm in wet. Put it in track, double tap the tc button, it'll show the options on the dash, use the rocker switch next to the tc button to select wet. Then hit ok on the steering wheel.

As long as it’s not pouring u will be ok with new 3rs this time of the year. If it starts to rain hard pull over and wait a bit. Yes 4 tires fit in the car - 3 in the back seat and one in the front (I don’t think u can put one in the trunk)
