Can't restart after 10 minute drive "dead battery"

This is an ongoing issue since day one of owning the car. Starter has always been slow to restart shortly after a drive. Like going into a store for 5 minutes then returning to car for restart.

Replaced battery after 2 years. Now the newer battery (from dealer) has needed jumps after short stops. It seems fine if I leave it for >3 hours.

I read about a lot of issues here with batteries on the camaro 6 ss, but this is very specific. Starts fine after sitting overnight.

My car is out of warranty with 34K miles (2016 2ss)

If it starts every time after sitting over 3 hours to cool down that would suggest a starter drawing too much current when the engine is hot. It would be worth the investment to have a competent shop test the charging system and battery. Aftermarket exhaust such as headers can cause starter issues when warm.

This starter heat soak issue has been discussed many times in the forum. Do a search and you will get lots of ideas: heat shield, new starter, new battery, new battery ground, etc.

Also the starter is under warranty up to 60,000 miles.

I notice you are in Miami where its usually very warm. I've had the same problem with mine when its hot out. I had the starter wraped in a heatshield but it didnt help. I got stranded for a while down when I went to Miami for xmas. Had to wait for it to cool off before it would crank back up so the heatshield isn't the answer.

I just had a 2nd ground installed last week when I took it in for regular maintenance. Read this... https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=504199

Starter is possible, I'd also look at battery cable junctions. Excessive resistance at junctions can cause poor charging and starting.

You need a new starter. Some of these come from the factory "weak" and just dont swing a 11-1 CR engine...
