Oil Filter

Question? Does anyone use UPF64R in place of PF64 filter for ZL1 LT 4 engine.
I was told this is the one for this vehicle. True or false

False.

PF64 is what you need.

I was told the same thing at the dealer for my '19.

I'm sticking with the PF64 until I see something definitive from GM. All the online Chevrolet parts databases I searched show PF64. It's also 1/3 the price of the R.

The AC Delco UltraGuard Gold series is their highest performing (best filtering) oil filters and is listed in their parts database as being compatible with the LT4 Camaro.

I have one sitting in my garage for my next oil change.

Remember updating recommended consumables for a vehicle is not on top of GMs priority list.

I have always used the Mobil 1 oil filters, on both the truck and car.

I confirmed GA1LE. The R has the newest filtering media.

I may pick one up and do a Blackstone oil analysis after the engine has a few more HPDE miles to see if there's anything significant between filter changes.

I used a Mobil 1 oil filter on the first oil change I did on my ZL1 back in November. I use one on my 2005 Silverado truck too! Never had any issues with them either.

I have used the UPF64R for my last 2 oil changes along with the 0w40 mobil 1 oil.

The filter fits and works fine.

I have one sitting on the shelf in the garage for my next oil change as well.

New and improved, so we can triple the price! PF64 is good enough for the all C7 Corvettes it is good enough for the ZL1.

I would be a bit concerned that higher filtering might mean reduced oil volume at higher RPM due to more restriction. Probably fine for street only guys but if you track car at all I'd probably check and see what the track guys are running first. My hunch says most of them sticking with the PF64.

I specifically track my car and use PF64. With the amount of changes I do the filter is barely getting any use anyway.

I haven't independently confirmed this, but here are specs listed for each on Rock Auto.
The UltraGuard can flow up to 3 gallons more per minute than the regular and has a higher bust pressure.

GA1LE, I will probably get a UPF64R for my next oil change for my ZL1! Should be a better filter than the PF64 because I’m paying about $13.00 for the Mobil 1 filter anyway and will give one a try!
