Hellion Power Systems - Turbo Kit
I have been speaking with Jeff Yochim from Hellion Power Systems who tells me Hellion will be releasing a turbo kit for the 6 Gen Camaro.
He did not provide much details as to if it will be single or twin turbo but he did say and i quote.. "this will be the most powerful kit available" Coming Spring 2017! http://www.hellionpowersystems.com

He did not say what the pricing will be. I'm sure that will be released when the kit comes out.
You can probably bet on a full kit w/ tuner etc and a "Tuner" kit that comes with no handheld or tune etc.

For ex, They made 726 RWHP on 9.8 psi of boost on a stock 5th gen SS with their TT Kit. He didn't really give details on any specs or pricing as i am sure he is not ready to release that info yet. He only confirmed that a kit is coming and could see it's release in the spring.

Hellion makes turbo systems that are pretty to look at but they typically don't make as much power as some of the other turbo systems on the market. This is because they place the turbos high in the engine bay which from basic physics is not the most efficient place to put them. I don't expect them to change their modus operandi for this kit. I suspect they are looking at the relatively low horsepower numbers the gen 6 forced induction cars are posting compared to gen 5 but these motors are not even close to equal. Read some of the other discussions on forced induction about LT1 fuel and compression ratio and you will get a better understanding of the limitations of the 6th gen motors. Eventually Hellion will figure this out. They make good kits but I'm fairly certain they are not going to set any power records in the 6th gen.

I don't see the lt1 motor as anything all that different other than the di stuff. And if you want big power you are going to have to work around it.
Most power could be claimed many different ways. Most power on a given boost level or on a given octane fuel I think will go to agp. Other than needing a scanvenge pump it seems like a much better way to do things for exhaust flow and controlling the heat. Most power potential will go to whichever kit has the higher flowing turbos. If they put twin 62's(1400hp rated) on there it will be able to make more power before running out of turbo than the current agp kit(1100hp rated). I think the agp turbos will be well off the compressor map before they get to 550hp but the 62's might actually make it to 700hp and still be efficient. |
