Do people park next to you on purpose?

So maybe its just me, but I swear everytime I park FAR away in an empty lot, by the time I come back, there is someone who has taken it upon themselves to park right next to me. Do they just want to piss me off because they know I care about my car? Do they know I care about my car so they know I won't hurt their car and they won't hurt mine (symbiotic relationship type thing)? Does this ever happen to anyone else? Or if you ARE this person, why do you do it?

Yep, it happens. But they never touch the vehicle. I seem to think most just want to go out of their way to look without walking over to it.

This happens to me. I go out of my way to park in a far-away space away from other cars, then come out only to find someone right next to me when there are plenty of others spaces to park in.

Honestly, I think most people are just followers and they naturally park next to another car without thinking about it.

Same thing in the movie theater, the whole theater to choose from and they gotta sit right next to you. Talking and rustling their snacks or playing on their phones.

Yep same here! I can park way out in BFE and still people park next to me when I’m driving the ZL1! I swear that car must be a magnet for other cars parking next to it! Definitely agree with shoe5163 about the movie theaters too!

When I see a proper car, I park close, but never ever next to it. Just in case I get to meet the owner and shoot the shit With our door opening so wide, it sucks big time when someone pulls up and leaves 20 inches for me to get in through...

As to your question, my theory is people in general don't think, instead they look for guidelines and boundaries, it feels safer to be next to someone or park your car next to another than in the middle of nowhere. And of course there's the occasional douche who just wants to give it to us "rich a-holes", "reckless jerks", "dirty ICE hogs" etc.

Looking at the positives, at least they didn't ding your car

I always try to find a spot with a curb on one side. At least that limits potential bumps lol. Also there's a spot at the Olive Garden at Regency that is literally one spot surrounded by curb on three sides. I get lucky sometimes.

That's ideal. I park as close to the curb as possible.

I think these are the same people who are perfectly happy cruising at 5 under the limit in the passing lane, until you’re passing them. Then they suddenly discover their inner Richard Petty and want to speed up and cut you off.

Yes. it's not just about the Camaro, the same thing happens with my Colorado (every vehicle I've owned). I always, if possible, park anything I'm driving away from other vehicles.

I don't get it. If they want to park out there by me, fine, but leave a parking space between. Nope, 10 spaces in either direction and where do they park? Right next to me. ugh!

It happens to me but it's usually another Camaro or vette that parks next to me lol. It's like the cars are catching up with each other
