Angry 16 Camaro lifters bad!

With 51000 on her I started hearing a squeaky sound coming from top passenger side. Took to dealer and they said that after taking covers off they determined that #7 cylinders lifters was bad. I keep hearing that these motors weak points are the trunion rockers and lifters. Has anyone else had this issue?

cylinder 7 is a dod lifter. Get a cam and dod delete kit and have some fun. We have plenty of options on our site.

How does the dod delete kit change this?

Because it replaces all the lifters when you change the cam. The new lifters will not open and close like your stock ones and your tuner/installer will also tune out the anything related to afm.

The dod lifters are garbage and prone to failure. Usually they make it past 50k but they are a weak link in the valvetrain. If you're going to replace the lifters....its a great time to just bit the bullet and do a cam and dod delete.

I haven't found many posts on here about lifter issues, but I've seen multiple vids covering this on 7th Gen corvettes. My car has 43K miles and I haven't noticed any abnormal valvetrain ticking but I've also had AFM tuned out for the last 23K miles or so. If you have an auto, it might be something you should consider doing.

Looks like if u want to dod delete, u would have to use a lt5 cam if you want to keep the stock cam. Same work, might as well upgrade.

Really? I didn't know that. Apparently the cam lobes must be different then? I'll have to look when i get home; I've still got my stock cam sitting on the shelf.

I know for sure the base circles are different so you def will need different pushrods for the dod lobes. But I can’t get an answer if that would even everything out. My guess is no, but I don’t have first hand experience.
