Need wheel and tire help
Help me out if you can. Need some experience from those who have changed wheels and tires before on 5th gens.
I am thinking about getting new wheels and tires as I will soon need new tires anyways. Here are the two setups I am thinking about going with. Please let me know how this will effect possible ride characteristics and fender well gap. I am not concerned about getting the car re calibrated with a tune as it is already tuned. Stock Diameter is 28.7 My 1st choice for wheels and tires TSW Nurburgring 19X9 (offset?) with 255/40ZR19 Michelin pilot sport AS 3+(overall diameter will be 27.1) TSW Nurburgring 19x10 (offset?) with 285/35ZR19/XL Michelin pilot sport AS 3+ (overall diameter will be 26.9) (effective gear ratio change 3.49 My 2nd choice for wheels and tires TSW Nurburgring 20X9 (offset?) with 255/40ZR20/XL Michelin pilot sport AS 3+ (overall diameter 28) TSW Nurburgring 20X10 (offset?) with 285/35ZR20 Michelin pilot sport AS 3+ (overall diameter 27.9) effective gear ratio change 3.36 Like I said I am more concerned with ride characteristics and fender gap but these wheels look really good on the 5th gen and are much lighter even in a 20 inch wheel then the factory weights on them. So I am looking for a slight performance increase and I wouldn't mind a smaller diameter wheel and tire to give a little change in rpms or the feeling of maybe giving it a slight gear change. Please give me any input you all know. I am defiantly not sure about offset or if these will require spacers. Thanks |

with both of those sizes the front wheel & tire will be a little taller than the rears. The average person may not notice it but if you are like me (OCD) you will and it will annoy you. A 275/40/20 and a 315/35/20 will be the exact same size and perfect for our cars. I run a 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 with those tires with no issues and I am lowered 1.5 all around

You could also do 19x10 or 20x10 with 275/40 or 285/35 on all four corners with +23 or +35 offset. IMO, If you’re only going 285 width in the rear, I’d square up the tires and get rid of the inherent understeer.
