I decided to try the painters tape. Grabbed two rolls from Lowes. I will be coming back to home 800 miles now with the new ZL1 on Monday. I will report back on how it goes.

Follow up. The car did great coming back from the trip. I was going to tape it up, but it was pouring rain at the dealer at pickup and pretty much most of the way home. I was reading how bad the blue painters tape gets when it gets soaked. Leaving a ton of residue behind and whatnot, so I decided to run naked. I stayed away from everyone and it seemed to work. The car is as perfect as it was when I left.

And talk about a rocketship on the highway. Wow. What a car. effortless acceleration. Buuuuuut. The recaros... They are a bit tight for my 6' 280lb frame. Mainly the bottom side bolsters. I have bruises on the sides of my upper legs. The back of the seat was awesome. I might pull the drivers one and put in a 2SS seat for daily use. Then when I track it put the recaro back in. Thats my only complaint.

Glad you made it back safe and had a good trip!

I did 1600 miles several months ago in my new to me ZLE. rained the first day and then was going to be dry from then on. I tried to 3m blue tape it. The car looked good when I was done, but as i would start to drive the edges would lift and flap on the freeway. I stopped maybe 2 times to try to fix, but ended up pulling all the tape off because I was more worried about tape rubbing on the clear. I just stayed back from other cars and didnt have any issues.

Next time around I would have done track armour or similar.

The seat fits me perfect, but I’m a much smaller guy. I have heard that the seats break in to fit your body (if at first uncomfortable). Up to you if you want to wait and try the break in process… congrats on the new wheels!

In my area there is a three month backlog with all the top installers.

My appointment is August 24th. This will be my fourth install in seven years and I couldn't jump the line.

The Recaros will break in to your body shape and weight with more seat/driving time. I drove mine home for 4 hours and 300 miles after I bought it and thought I made a mistake with the Recaros but really changed my mind after more miles. Congratulations on a beast of a Camaro too!
