2018 Camaro 2SS on Dealer Lot for Almost 3 Months

So I’m looking at 2017-2021 Camaro SS’s online and found a 2018 2SS that’s the color I want, and options I want namely a sunroof & dual mode exhaust and has 22k miles on it. Price for the current car market is average $39,000. Looking at the Carfax which is clean, but hardly anything on it except the initial dealer new inventory info, initial purchase date, registration renewals, and current dealer inventory & mounting and balancing of 2 tires which I’d imagine would be the back tires on these cars. The dealer had this car in inventory for soon to be 3 months. Given the info should I automatically pass on this one or is it worth taking a look into? In the current car market where dealers are over charging for cars and cars selling I am thinking well what’s wrong with it that no one has bought it yet. I am open on other cars, not much inventory and I did find a 2017 w/ 28k miles that does not have a sunroof but has a full clean 1 owner carfax record with full list of consistent oil changes & services done by the dealer the car was purchased from, and it’s also being sold by the same dealer now, price on this one is $39,000 as well. Last my other option is buying a new LT1.

I think it's sat around because the price is too high. I think this overheated used car market is cooling a little bit but I would just go with the new LT1 unless there is some angle I'm missing here. A new LT1 starts at what, $35K?

Why not go and take a look with a friend who knows these cars well, just to have an extra pair of eyes? The reason it's sitting on the lot could be anything from high price through lack of specific options to some hidden defect (say, if it's an A8, unaddressed transmission shudder), which you can only find out when you see and drive the car.

As to 2SS vs LT1, only you know what's important to you, I for one could not live with the LT1's lack of features no matter the lower initial price, but others want exactly this type of "base platform" for their builds.

Just saw a 2018 1SS 1LE online for 48k.............. This is so stupid. Makes me feel so much better about waiting around for a new one at MSRP

Yeah that's insane. I paid less for my brand new 2021.

Same, I was OTD for less than that on a brand new 2021 1SS 1LE... and then I ended up turning it in under the Lemon Law.

Now I want another one but A) I can't find one in the configuration I want and B) I'll be damned if I pay more than what I paid for my first one for another one. Under my states lemon law I could get a buy back or trade and I asked for a trade, but GM wouldn't do it. I suspect it was due to low inventory & in the current market they could get more for a new one if they sold it vs. trading it to me.

New cars are mostly marked up $5k. I had found a 2021 1LE new that MSRP pricing was good on but it had a $5k markup. Used prices still suck in the Mid Atlantic. I looked at a 2017 2SS and found it is one of the better priced car’s used I’ve found that isn’t a former rental or 1SS, of course this isn’t including Carvana or Vroom listings. Actual car dealer inventory is definitely short, the 2017 I looked at one morning prior to the dealership opening for the day & looked at it yesterday morning & test drove it. I’m not happy with the price at $39,000. Car was clean, no transmission shudder at all during that drive, dealer’s had it for 45 day’s.
