That's why I drive a M6....

Hotlap has a pretty good theory too!

I could buy that explanation. With that, I still can't see why Chevrolet can't/won't market the car.

There has always been the Corvette/Camaro Delima since 1967.
Chevrolet never had a problem marketing until recently.

On ramps on Ontario Highways have a large asphalt area great for entering on highways at speed, one of my favorite area's for going north on the 410 with the long merge lanes that Canadian highways have can merge at about 180kmph if you don't mind getting a 50km over and loosing your car for 10days and possible 10k fine

Case in point, last time I went there was a Tesla Model X that ran within 0.1 seconds every single time, like clockwork, until the battery ran low. Driver did absolutely nothing, no prep, no drag tires, not even lowering tire pressures, just lined up and kept the pedal to the floor all the way. No need to actually compete, one can simply compare spec sheets. Yawn.

(Now I will say having an automatic trans like the one in my car takes a big chunk out of the fun already, so it's not like I'd be a hardcore drag racer, this is only a simple observation.)

i don't go to the drag strip, but do tesla's ever race each other? I'm always curious about that. I guess it would be so clinical that winning a race would entirely be reaction time and tires?

I mentioned this earlier too in the thread, but the issue is most car enthusiasts today have the driving skills of a potato. It doesn't matter if the gen 6 Camaro is the easiest car to drive fast, the vast majority of enthusiasts have never driven on a track and it takes at least a dozen or so hours on a track to really start to appreciate what the Camaro does that makes it an objectively better performing car than a Mustang/Charger/Challenger. It takes several hundred hours more on top of that to really start to feel the differences between a highly spec'd PP2 vs 1LE. So for the vast majority of enthusiasts they see 707 horsepower and that's all they need to know because they don't have the skillset to even throw a fine tuned sports car around a corner.

Rofl, unexpected jealousy over an on-ramp. But, I guess the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I wish I could enjoy it on my motorcycle, but the freakin' roads are SO DAMN SLIPPERY here that it's not worth it to drag a knee.

Ah, nothing is better than a 2-lane 270 on-ramp that has a slower lane for semi's and whatnot. This one near me to go from WB Craig to SB 15 is perfect to smoke around people who THINK they know what "fast" means...

One thing I love about the SS Sedan is that people are always underestimating it. Case in point with a VW GTI that was trying to keep up with me on the straight aways. We get to a light right before a sweeping on-ramp that has a nice sweeping 90 degree turn. The GTI thought he was going to have the advantage, but as the SS Sedan in stock form has a .97 lateral g grip, with a set of PS4S's, I figured it's a bit more stickier. The GTI probably wondered why a big hulking sedan was pulling on his little eco-rocket in the turns. Seeing him slowly drift back because he couldn't hold the turn was quite satisfying.

I've got a similar one 10 minutes from me.

This sweeping two lane on ramp is entertaining as well. I've been told one can hit 110 mph and still back down to freeway speeds before merging

"Legend says..."

1st ramp is just missing the 2nd lane to openly pass a slow poke ;-)

I used to live right next to these and the best part was all 3 of those cloverleafs were all connected in an infinite loop. You could essentially ride/drive the cloverleafs forever and they all had different cambers.

I suspect I'm in the lowest quartile of drag racers here, but the Teslas I saw were very-very consistent. They never did burnouts or even chirp the tires when launching, so it'd pretty much be down to reaction time, yes.

nothing better than just driving to get to your destination when some asshat going way over the limit to showboat hits your car and takes you out...just sayin.it would piss you off if some slow tractor trailer driver took you out due to lack of good judgement, wouldnt it?

Who said anything about driving over the limit here?
