Build/Transport Problems

Anyone else have these build or transportation issues with their car at delivery? I just took delivery of the car today and found these problems. Not happy, especially after waiting so long. Could have happened in shipping or at dealer.

Abrasions in clearcoat most everywhere on the car:

Interior sill garnish with scratches and scuffs that will not come out:

Driver's side hood vent does not stay attached to the hood:

Road (transport truck?) rash on both passenger side wheels:

Column cover behind the steering wheel does not line up with instrument panel or steering wheel making it appear like the steering wheel spoke angle is off -> vehicle out of alignment.

Get back to the dealership as soon as possible. Why did you take delivery? The longer you wait the more they can say it's not their fault. You'll be fine if you get back within the week go see the sales manager, bypass your salesman. Tell them you know about the delivery survey that's coming in a couple weeks and you want to give them a good score. It really does matter.

I had the scratch on the left front fender and some spots on the hood wrap that may or may not come out. I'm assuming these happened in transport, haven't found any other big issues thankfully but I'm sure there will be some, I kinda expected it to be honest.

I would lose my mind with those wheel scratches.

The swirls on the paint are easy enough to fix and IMHO, kinda expected.

I used the delivery checklist that is posted here and was still too excited to notice the hideous orange peel on the trunk lid until a few days later when I went to do the new car detail.

I hope they get you a new wheel.

I daily drive mine and am resigned to 'life' happening over the course of the years, but I just can't handle the idea of it arriving damaged.

Enjoy the car anyway. It's an amazing machine.

my front splitter has a 3" hole in the front right on the bottom from when it was unloaded from the truck but the dealer pointed it out and they owe me a new one when they can get one in stock

Yes, I'm not too worried about the clearcoat scratches. I can get those out myself. I just didn't expect a full body polish would be necessary on a new car.

The interior step garnish is already on order at the dealer.

The dealer will try to repair the wheels first and if that doesn't work, then replace.

The hood vent, I'll need to have them replace or redo the adhesive used to keep the end in place.

The column cover doesn't look like something that can be easily repaired. It's screwed to a metal hanger assembly underneath that is connected to the instrument panel hanger beam. So this metal assembly would need to be tweaked. I'm not sure I want this be modified; might be more trouble than it's worth.

Wow, that's crazy...especially the wheels. The paint issues are kinda typical on any new car, I have had to do paint correction on all of my cars to some extent.

why take delivery? Can you not just refuse to pay for it and ask for refund?

He already took delivery of the vehicle. And I would hope the dealer is paying for that repair to be completed.

OP, good luck with the repairs. I personally do not like wheels repaired. They never match the colors well. Some are better than others though. Too bad you didn't get to see that before delivery. I would have told them a new wheel or it can be sold to someone else. I would ask them if they would agree to replace it if the color is not to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the advice guys!

The dealer agreed to replace instead of repair the 2 damaged wheels. Sill garnish will be replaced. Hood vent: they will replace or repair depending on what the issue is with it not staying attached to the hood.

Column cover alignment is an annoyance, but I'll probably live with it because I know what's involved in trying to change the orientation.

Paint clearcoat scratches will get taken care of when it goes to the detailer today for a full polish and clear film installation.

I should have this car up to 100% in the next few weeks. I'm happy the dealer and Chevrolet Customer Relations is being helpful with this process of getting the car back to intended delivery condition.

Hood vent is probably due to something that happened when the wrap was put on. I'm pretty sure those get popped off when they wrap the hood so it's possible that it's broken.
