Does anyone know if the entire bumper has to be removed to add this little piece in or if there's a simple way to have them swapped out without going through the bumper-removal hassle?

Yep you will need to remove the entire bumper, as well as need an extra set of hands because getting the stock grill out is pretty damn difficult.
