Getting some wheel hop off the line
Getting some hop off the line. Finding that I either blow the rubber off the car or I grab and get some wheel hop in 1st gear mid range.
I am going to lean towards suspension for this one, any good recommendations? mostly just a street car so I don't need to go over the top but could use an upgrade. 2012 2SS 6spd |

Here's another shameless self promoting video showing what I did. Eliminated most wheel hop. . . . . . . .

I got rid of all of mine by installing solid cradle bushings on the recomendation of Ryan at JDP Motorsports, and it worked, no more, and I haven't done any other suspension mods at all. She is also just a street car.

I did solid cradle bushings, toe rods, trailing arms, delrin control arm bushings. Zero hop.

Rear subframe (cradle) bushings are the only logical place to start - as just about every other rear suspension component (toe rods, trailing arms, etc) are all connected to the rear subframe. So, until the motion of the rear subframe is well controlled with either robust poly, or better yet solid bushings, then changing other components is not all that beneficial.
Also often overlooked are the rear differential bushings - upgrading to a poly bushing here can also help remove some twisting motion from the driveline. Do keep in mind that as you replace bushings in the driveline (including the subframe, which "mounts" the driveline) you create a much easier path for driveline noise to enter the cabin of the car. Not every differential is noisy - but they can be, especially with more aggressive aftermarket gears. So, if noise is a concern, definitely stick with poly, and not solid bushings for the rear subframe.

Well said acammer!! Like I said in my previous post, I did the solid subframe bushings on the recomendations of JDP Motorsports as they have several vehicles they track all the time and that works for me. Wheel hop gone, but as acammer said, more rear end noise, but it is tolerable to me, and tight.

I did Pfadt trailing arms and toe links. It made a significant improvement with wheel hop. Then I did Pfadt solid subframe bushings and I have very minimal wheel hop now.

Same. Did the Pfadt Stage 3 pkg (I think Pfadt went under). Eliminated wheel hop and also enabled me to feel every bump in the road

They did but AFE Power bought their designs and manufacture them. In a nutshell AFE is rebranded Pfadt. Or AFE is the new Pfadt. However you want to view it.
