In my opinion extended warranties are a scam.

Most cars are designed to make 100,000 miles without serious mechanical problems or issues.

Save your $2000 and if there are major issues with the car; fix it and flip it as a trade in.

They may seem like a scam. You can say that extended warranties are like any kind of insurance. Life, auto, medical, dental, vision, homeowners..... very costly until they are needed. Add up all your premiums.... extended warranty is probably the cheapest over the course of coverage.

These days it does not take much to have a 1000$ repair bill. I look at 1500 as good insurance. This was one of the main reasons I got rid of my Vette.

God, these seem expensive. When I bought my Charger in 2012 I paid $1300 for a non-transferable, bumper to bumper, lifetime warranty with a $150 deductible that includes a loaner or rental. There are dealers all over the country that sell in high-volume with very little markup. Just do a search on Google and buy it after you get the car. Do let them pressure you into getting it there. You won't pay a premium if you get it after you get the car as long as it's within a certain number of miles. These warranties are only worth it if you don't overpay. Even though my Charger's warranty sounds like a good deal, I've never had to use it - so it really wasn't such a good deal. It also limits what mods you can do. If the mod is proven to contribute to your problem, they won't cover the repair. Also, read it carefully to make sure you understand what is and what isn't covered.

If you must buy extended coverage, at least haggle with the finance person. These warranties are a huge money maker for the dealer. Their markup is a minimum of 50%.
You should not pay more than half of their asking price.

My extended warranty paid for itself. Paid for my 3rd gear synchronizer replacement and failed fuel pump. Dropped it off they provided a rental each time no questions asked.

They are a scam until you need it to fix your car. Its a gamble like everything else.

I got my GM warranty bumper to bumper with No deduct. I think I got a fair deal since I had to use it and the repairs were more than the warranty. And there was no hassles.

When I got my car I new I would drive it hard, slamming gears, burning rubber etc. Not like some Toyota Camry that won't see 70mph must less any type of wheel spin whatsoever. Most who drive Camaros will be pushing them much more than your everyday Toyota. If your Camaro is a garage queen and will maintain low mileage then the warranty is a waste.

We got the 6 year 125k. The price was offset as they were able to use "coupon" to drop our interest rate from 3.5 to 2.5%. I know we paid a little still but no more then a few hundred.
