I'm doing a kenwood install with the metra kit today and wanted to see if there is anything else i need to pick up.
Couldn't use the factory USB port or microphone. I just took out the factory USB port and ran the Kenwood USB cable to the factory location.

Ok, thats a bummer, I thought I had read somewhere that you can actually have a converter cord that would use the factory USB cable.

Sorry to bombard with questions, but have you seen a DIY install guide with pictures on how to take out the dash and factory radio stuff? The metra kits instructions are pretty ""meh".

If your new head unit has a USB out, simply run a cable from the radio to the back of the center console. Unplug the factory plug from the USB outlet, and plug in the new USB cord. The outlet accepts a mini USB, NOT a mirco USB. Its that simple.

any of you have any idea if the metra kit is supposed to have some kind of indicator showing that the heated seats are on? also for the rear defrost?

There doesn't seem to be anything showing when i hit the heated seats or rear defrost buttons, at least not that I could see.

Dunno about heated seats since I don't have them but there is a Rear Defrost indicator.

I know this is an older thread but how much does something like this cost all together like with the metra kit, the kenwood system, and if there is anything else that needs to be bought. I want to get a system like this so badly! Thanks.
