Least Aggressive Axleback?
Do I want the Borla S-type or AWE Touring? Those seem to have the best reviews. Any info on the Flowmaster one with the Super 44 mufflers? It's the cheapest of the ones with "real" mufflers that aren't tiny straight-through ones (I assume none of those have any magic that would make them quieter than the larger case mufflers?). I've heard FM has had a lot of drone issues in the past so I'm curious how it is on the M6 Camaro which is a lighter car with Mt Everest tall gearing. Or is there a universal set of mufflers that are good that the local exhaust shop can weld on?
You can only really get tone from online videos so it's really hard to get an idea of actual loudness as exhaust companies do not post DB readings. |

Corsa NPP...truly mild to wild. Valves closed it is stock like quiet open it screams. Flowmaster NPP is not far behind...also pretty tame when quiet. I only switched from it because of the drone when the valves were open. The Corsa is also much lighter...the Flowmaster is heavy as shit. Don't go by what the box weight says. Haven't heard the S-type in person but from videos it appears to have the lesser amount of difference between open and closed. I heard AWE on a Hellcat it sounded good but was loud AF. Car had catless headers. If I had to guess it's going to be the middle ground between the NPP options. Louder then the NPP stuff when closed, not as loud as NPP exhausts when open.

If you're not wanting too loud and trying to keep it more on the mild side I think the GM Performance exhaust would be a good option. It's louder than stock, much better tone than stock, but not as loud compared to other aftermarket exhaust.
Louder in person but this is what I have:

I had heard that the GMPP exhaust is just a re-badged S-Type so I'm not too keen on paying 4-500 more if it's the same thing (or even close)

I have AWE touring but I'm not sure where you're at with the least aggressive, typically any of the touring/street labeled systems will be the least aggressive options you can find. I get plenty of compliments on the AWE touring.

Borla S-type with the resonators.
11922 60608 This makes it the "Touring" sound level.

In a similar boat. I want something a good bit louder than the stock non NPP factory exhaust on my LT1 but i dont want to be obnoxious. Im leaning toward borla S type or the gmpp exhaust.

Borla S-type is amazing. It's not obnoxiously loud at all just sounds like the car should sound.....really good.

I looked at a few exhaust an those that i could find a video of our car for (shame on any company that makes an exhaust for something like the camaro and doesnt provide a sound clip) I really liked the borla sound.

Yeah, definitely sounds like AWE or Borla is the way to go. I wouldn't turn down a nice used GMPP for the right price but given the choice I'd probably still go for the Borla even if it is a bit different. I was so bummed the other day. I found a GMPP for sale on FB for $50 but thankfully I asked what car it came off of and learned that there is a nearly identical V6 GMPP with 2.25" piping vs 2.75"

I’m very happy with my Borla S-Type (non npp). The car should have sounded like this from the factory!
