CAI 2018 V6

For my 2010 it was so easy. Got my parts and went with trifecta... seems more complex this time around. What are my options? I’ve been reading the forum and researching. Thinking that the easiest is a GM CAI and looks like GM dealer has to flash. Is this correct? If so, why can’t I find the GM CAI for the 2018 v6
? Does th dealer charge for the flash or is that included in the CAI purchase?

Thanks in advance...

Jeff

The GM CAI isn’t made for the 18s. I don’t think they’ll even flash it for you on an 18. I’d probably pick up an aFE or one like it if I had your car. Of course you’ll get more out of that with a tune.

Will I need the tune with the aFE? If so, do you know if there are any set ups like what I did before with Trifecta? I think the ECU is locked in this one?

AFE doesn't NEED a tune as it states, however from experience youll prob want a tweaking of the maf sensor.

Everything past 16 has locked computers on the car.

Are we positive the GM CAI isn't made for the 18 V6 yet? I really want to give it shot since it doesn't effect the warranty

Like Polynesian said, you'll want the tune for MAF scaling, you will probably run a bit lean without it. I'm not sure how the TCM 'lock' works on the 18, but I know for the 17s there's a process that you have to go through with HP Tuners to unlock it. IMO the TCM aspect of the Overkill tune helped out a lot - shifts are faster, revs out more before it shifts in Sport, and the redline is raised a few hundred rpm. I don't have experience with the Trifecta tune but I'm sure it's pretty similar.

I have the Trifecta tune and it’s just as you described. Select-a-AFM comes in handy for short vs long distance drives. But I have the AFE CAI and wasn’t aware of the MAF scale “issue” :/

My Overkill tune doesn’t have the ability to turn AFM on and off like that, but it’s super easy to change tunes.. Most of the time I run with AFM disabled because it’s annoying for city driving. The two tuners show very similar dyno gains though, which leads me to believe they’re doing very similar things. Which Trifecta tune did you get? I think there is one package where they will tune for 3rd party mods, if you got that you can let them know and they will retune it for you as far as I know.

Exactly, and I bought it last year during Black Friday for like $350 iirc. It was not the Elite tune but I’m most likely going to upgrade for ~$100 to get the retuning capabilities. Since then I’ve gotten the CAI, installed th Borla Atak, and removed my secondary cats. So it prooooobably needs it lol

The Atak made it louder, a lot louder under WOT. The sec cat delete is louder under load. I was disappointed when I started it up after deleting them and it sounding like virtually no difference. But when I started driving I could hear it got raspier (not too much) and louder (again, a bit but not as much from stock to Atak).

And lemme find the YouTube link...

Trifecta Black Friday Sale. Got mine this year for about 350 bucks. Waiting on the tune to come now cuz they needed a security code. I can't wait to put it in but it has to be delayed at least a couple of days till I can get this 3.27 LSD installed. Christmas came early this year, for me

Did you get the Elite tune? You’ll most likely need to retune after putting in the 3.27. Post some 0-60 times after you get it in too, I’m curious lol
