Recall: Loss of Power Steering Assist - Nov 2018

So I called up my local dealership to schedule some service, and the nice lady on the phone tells me that my 2016 Camaro SS has a recall on it. I was surprised to hear that since I usually know of all this stuff fairly quickly.

She told me it was a recall issued on 11/13/2018 and the description is "Loss of Power Steering Assist".

Anyone know about this?

She went ahead and added it to the list of items I wanted done on my car.

I know there are other various threads here about power steering issues, but I see none created recently about an actual recall, so I decided to create this thread.

I think someone may have mentioned a recall very recently in another thread. Anyway, good to know they are taking care of this.

Would you mind sending me a PM with your VIN so I can run it to see what the campaign info says?

Found the info after some digging....

You can check your VIN here: https://my.gm.com/recalls

For whatever reason it’s not showing up on the NHTSA, Safecar, or CarFax recall lookup.

Thanks for digging that up!

I was wondering how extensive the fix was...Doesn't seem too bad.

My dealer wants me to come in for a recall on my 2016 Camaro 2SS "Power Steering Assist." So, being curious, I googled it.

Did not find (recall for my 2016 Camaro SS).

What I did find is GM recall for "Product Safety Recall 17248 Loss of Steering Assist." Reference Number: A162070110 Release Date: August 2017 Revision: 00.

It seems this recall is for the Chevy SS. Not Camaro SS.

Apologies if the is not correct. But it looks solid.
