Review Following Torque Converter Replacement

1 day after a TC was installed on my 16 Camaro 2SS, I was greeted with loud banging and scraping noise while driving. So, had to flatbed the car back to dealer service dep't.

To my issue, they emailed an online review. I was real upset after the last few recalls, back and forth to services dept's, and this problem, I was not a happy customer.

So his review was in the middle of the road, not great, not poor. So the service manager called, being mean and rude. He hung up on me, but not before banning me from his service dep't. I did not buy the car from his dealer, he used that against me, saying so. He did not want me back there. Right before I had the parts for the steering assist recall.

What a day, I'll tell ya.

From what I heard, these reviews are binary, if you don't give the dealership 100%, they get a mark against them no matter the score (which is beyond stupid IMO, but it is what it is). I am not siding with them, just making this point to show you the likely reason you got such an extreme reaction.

Is going back to the original dealer an option?

Afraid not, I purchased the car in Maine.
From what I understand, a dealer is not supposed to prohibit you from (in this case) a GM vehicle, no matter where it is bought? People are known to move occasionally.

Contact GM and tell them what he did?

I would try to find a reputable local dealer then.

You're right in that they can't "ban" you per se, but these dealerships are independent legal entities, GM does not own them, and I don't think they are required to accept business from any customer simply because they own a car the service department is technically capable of servicing. Even if you can somehow strongarm them into taking your business, the well has already been poisoned, so to speak, I wouldn't risk them touching my car again.

That's my understanding of it, having been told as much by salesmen and service department folks.

Done... 1st person at GM assistance I spoke with was cool. Says he understood, and that should not have happened, and he was sorry it did.

I was bumped up to another rep, he seemed not very interested. He offered me $100 for service. I tell ya, it sat wrong with me. Told him this is not about money, that this person should be held accountable for his actions. My family has been a loyal customer at this dealership for over 20 years.

So this was at least a few days ago. Who know what if anything became of this.

I used another dealership in the past, I will call them about recall.

You are right, these dealerships are many times family owned, and can do what they want within reason.
Yes again, I will never go back there again, not only for fear of them ruining my Camaro, but me running into this service manager, who knows what could happen. I'm guessing nothing good.
