10 quarts SS oil change capacity owner differences
I am going to change my oil myself and I am reading a lot of differences that people say the camaro SS oil capacity is. It ranges from 9.5 quarts to 10.5 quarts. I wonder if it's a question of how they Jack the car up to change it. Front up in the air on ramps or jacking the whole car up level on stands. Maybe you get more old oil drained one way as opposed to the other?

I put 10qt even in and its perfect level wise (checked on level ground, engine off a bit to allow oil to get back into pan).
Follow the manual and go about your day. Plus or minus a half quart won't make any difference. |

10 quarts exactly, I do it on ramps on the slightest of declines, so the car is actually pretty level.

10, +/- .5 qt by the 4 changes that I've done. I always buy 2 5qt containers and two 1qt, for topping

I did my first and mine was 10.5 quarts. I jack my cars up in the front.
FYI: I read it on some other post(and it worked for me) is to leave the dipstick out for a few minutes then check oil. I found that with mine if I left the dipstick in then wiped clean and reinserted for check gave different levels per side; however, if I pulled the dipstick out for a few minutes then checked the level of oil on both sides were the same. Some folks don’t seem to observe this on their cars but it is what worked for mine. Of course follow the owners manual on how long to let the car sit before checking. |

10 quarts always puts mine right in the middle of the hash marks on the stick. I do fill the oil filter before installing it from the same 10 quarts. I always add between 1/4 and 1/2 quart more to put it to the top of the hash marks.

Make sure all the old oil is drained out and put in 10 quarts with a filter change. That’s what I do with my ZL1. You should be able to use Rhino Ramps with your SS. That’s what I used when I had my 2016 SS but I invested in the 2 piece Race Ramps extended length for changing the oil in the ZL1.

10 quarts = a perfect fill level for me. Just go with what the manual says. It's always the safest bet. Over-filling can be detrimental. And, I was always told that you should never add oil unless it's at the bottom of the hash marks. Then, that equals adding a quart. No guessing and accidental over-filling this way.

The only one I've done so far was 10.5 qts after putting it on the ground.
