Sad to see the Camaro go. Did you trade in the 3.0 duramax?
Curious why you didn’t go with that motor again?

I did trade it in, there were no 3.0s anywhere in the midwest in a Tahoe. I would have bought one in a Heartbeat. The allocation for the Baby Max and the Tahoe or the Suburban is very low. We are towing anymore so it's not as important as it was before. The Tahoe with the 6.2 gets just about the same MPG as the truck did towing 6500 lbs, I had gotten over 19 mpg towing on some trips to the track but averaged about 17 or towing and about 26 mpg average on daily driving. I'll miss it for sure.

Ah cool. Yeah I’d be on the fence anyway at this point as they didn’t put the lz0 in it yet. Can’t complain about that 6.2 cold start in the morning. Regardless good to hear you had a positive experience with the duramax

I have only seen a few 3.0 Duramax SUV's around here. Not many want to deal with a Diesel and DEF fluid for a daily driver. I wonder how many Soccer moms would put DEF in the wrong tank and kill the motor. lol

My boss did that to his new PowerStroke F-250 Lariat. Had to bite my tongue to stop myself from laughing at him when he told me.

I just turned over 20k miles and I had added Def about 4 or 5 times in that period of time. It used very litte between oil changes. It's very easy to decern between the two places you fill Diesel or Def. You have to remove a cap to fill the Def, the Diesel is capless like almost all cars now. It sure wasn't any hassle for a daily driver. Your right about availability, when I ordered my 2022 Ltz I also ordered a 22 Tahoe 3.0 Lt. Just a couple thou difference in price at the time as the Tahoe was the higher price. On March 18th I received notice my truck was being built so I went to the dealer to ask about the Tahoe, I planned on taking which ever one showed up first. I asked if the Tahoe had an allocation date, nope I was told, it would probably be Sept or Oct. I picked up my truck on April 8th. So I canceled the Tahoe, couldn't afford to have both when the Tahoe did come in.

Here is my next project. Undecided on the drive train, but hoping to do an Lt platform, either a 5.3 L83 or L86 or L87 6.2 with a 8 or 10 speed. Working with swap time on the accessories I'll need to complete the swap. I've also considered an LS and still may but the LT platform is just so much more desirable to me. I also know that engine and trans combo very well. I've done a couple LS swaps on in the last 13 years. Most recently the 82 Malibu I did with a 6.2 out of a 09 2500. Getting rid of these 22's and rubber bands that came with the truck when I bought it. I has full Ride Tech suspension, notched rear frame, every suspension part has been replace, new beautiful white paint, new bumpers, grille, all exterior lights have been replaced. Interior is in really good shape, I've had it out cleaning all the parts and now I'm putting it back together, not one crack in the dash which if really unusual for these old OBS trucks. If I do a Lt I've been talking to Mike about THPSI port injection and maybe and LT4 blower, on E85. It's going to be a cool build, I just won't do it any other way.
Since it's obviously not a Camaro I'll limit my posts so I'm not breaking the rules of the forum.

You got me interested in superchargers from your first post I think from memory that was a non-intercooled one and you went way way far from there.
I got into Miata racing / building and it fun and it is really cheap, a Miata engine shipped is $1500 and you probably not going to break it anyway... I still get high 30s low 40s MPG too. Good luck. that wagon is heck of cool. I want to build a turbo slant six Aspen with wood grain panels and roof racks. They are making all the HyperPak stuff now and it is now doable.

Well Greg...I'll have to say your new project is shaping up to be an epic fail with regards to the objectives you laid out in the original post. Not too fast, you said. Unless I'm missing something, you're building a truck that weights about the same as your Camaro, and will make similar power.
Unless you go conservative on the boost/tune, which we ALL know you're not going to do. It just ain't in you! I'm predicting low 10's for that truck within the next six months! I hope that I can be there to watch you do it!

Really hard to believe you guys don't trust my word, I almost always tell most of the truth during the day. Then I get to the evening and my thoughts may wonder slightly. This truck will never go on a trailer, it will be a driver wherever it travels, whatever that means to the reader of this post. You may read between the lines if you like. I'm even reading between the lines, whatever that means.

I've met his wife. She has stuck with him thru 50+ years of building cars and drag racing. She completely understands. I talked to her a good bit at Camarofest around 5 years ago. She knows that it's in his DNA, and he's never going to stop.
