Just a question, are you trying to force it through the 1-4 skip shift gate?

I recall the shifter on my old 95 to be far superior.. in fact.. I think my 1978 rabbit had a better shifter.
This doesn't sound right. I've owned M 21, M22, toploader, and Mopar 4 speeds, at least a half-dozen fwd and rwd Japanese cars, and a couple of VWs. The 6060 in my car is as good as any of those and better than most. Have you driven another 6060 equipped gen 6 to see how it shifts compared to yours? I'm almost certain this issue is peculiar to your car.

I would put this trans up against the best. It’s really that good.

Too vague a statement in context, I think I'm hearing a rift between whether or not your setup is broken, or if it's just a commentary on the regular/stock car.

Just a youtube-uploaded phone-cam of you smacking it around 1-2-3-4 (with the car safely stopped/level/parking brake on) from the left hand side high with your hand and forearm to the right of the stick would show what you're talking about.

I test drove a 1LE with the factory short throw shifter.

I thought was great for an OE unit

My M6 does one thing great, my wife can't drive stick. As for the skip shift, I learned from my 95 Z28 when it shows the skip shift message, I just hold the clutch in a few seconds more and it times out that minor annoyance.

If ever you were going to add up some of those seconds and spend them doing some work, disabling skip shift is it. Next time you or someone is under the car just do it.

These cars are for fun, don't endure something so noxious that's so easily fixed. As a pragmatic matter, those few seconds on the clutch aren't funny on a long left turn across incoming traffic, and your revs are dropping under where 2nd wants to be.

There are choices of car color, or auto vs manual, or Ford vs GM, that are really just a matter of taste between great options. Leaving skipshift there is not one of them.

Keeping it stock and seconds? If I need seconds skip shit doesn't engage on throttle.

I have the Hurst short throw shifter that uses the stock shift knob I feel like it removed a lot of the slop in the shifter the throw is much shorter it does have some notchiness to it I ran that setup for a couple years now i wanted to see if I could remove the notchiness out so this year I added a Raceseng ashiko weighted shift knob and adapter it’s the heaviest one they make it removed all the notchiness out and falls into gear with little effort wish I would’ve done the shift knob sooner

No. Both times I was actually down shifting due to slowing traffic.

I liked the direct feel of the T56, and the shifter was directly connected to the shift rails. not thru some plastic bushings.

The Hurst Shifter is a great option.

wow, really surprised by some comments.
1) agree the red line and the Hurst shifter = probably the best feeling and shifting trans ever made at a 650 lbs torque rating.
2) F86 twins, sorry you feel that way, the AX15 trans same on Silvia and Miata NC is one of the best transmissions made stone stock.
3) come now a rabbit 4 speed was absolute slop compared to the Honda trans.
4) each car needs to learn and break in. I'd practice a whole lot more.

If you get skip shift to engage you deserve all the pain you get for driving like you do.
