Alarm system?
Had a neighbor that was driving up and seen someone looking inside my window, trying to open my car's door. Thankfully, nothing was stolen; however, I never heard anything. The car is a 6th gen SS. I was under the impression we had a built in alarm system - is that not the case? Additionally, if there is one, what would trigger the alarm?
I tried looking up previous threads for an answer, but couldn't find a definitive answer. I saw a lot of people mentioning if you press the lock button twice on the key fob that would arm the car. I did that and went outside to test it, but the alarm never sounded. Is there anything I'm doing wrong, missing a startup step perhaps? Or would I have to purchase such security feature? |

I don't think mere attempts at opening the door trigger the alarm, opening the door without unlocking it with the button on the key fob (or the door button with the fob in proximity) does.

Most cars today come standard with a basic alarm system. Basic as in it will honk the horn and flash the lights if a door is opened without unlocking it with the remote or key.
But if you want something more sophisticated, a shock sensor, interior motion sensor, extra layer of security, you’ll need to go aftermarket. |

I thought it also armed when you shut the door and pressed the door handle button once to lock the door. Is that correct?

Mine works I have it in the settings to automatically lock the doors by themselves I don’t remember where in the settings it is.
